Just another six days until my new guitar arrives:

pQuhyLa.jpg

It's a Schecter Solo Custom Exotic, and while the figured maple and cherry sunburst flamed Koa top is a little unconventional, it spoke to me. I've been planning to get a Les Paul style guitar for a while now and evidently this is it!

Acoustic: Shigeru Kawai SK-7 ~ Breedlove C2/R

MIDI: Kurzweil Forte ~ Sequential Prophet X ~ Yamaha CP88 ~ Expressive E Osmose

Electric: Schecter Solo Custom Exotic ~ Chapman MLB1 Signature Bass

I can only hope. I've been very pleasantly surprised by Schecter's South Korean manufacturing, so I'm assuming their custom shop production won't be a step in the wrong direction. Five days and counting...

Just got the expansion packs for my Spitfire strings,ww's, and brass. More mics! They're usually 399-499 but were on sale for 99. I think today is the last day of the sale. I'm really happy with the Jake Jackson stereo mixes that I've tried on the strings. Still waiting for the ww's and brass to dl. It's gonna be a while...

Got a really decent deal on this mid-70's Leslie but someone swapped out the original amp for a 147 60's vintage amp. The motors have very low miles on them from what I can see. I guess it was an estate sale, believe it or not I got this in a vintage record shop:

Kronos 88! Only had it for about 30 hours so I'm still diving in, but so far, I love it. Gotta find a case for it, the FA case I have is too small by fractions of an inch.

Live: Korg Kronos 2 88, Nord Electro 5d Nord Lead A1

I picked up an L&M 210/9 mic stand. This is a small purchase, but it is a great stand. Ive been looking to get a stand with the telescopic boom for some time. After reading the boom stand thread a couple weeks ago and leaving a cheap stand at a multiband benefit gig, I got it. Dig it!!

We play for free. We get paid to set up and tear down.

RCF TT08As, RCF LP 10C Mixer, Strymon Deco, Strymon Timeline, Neo Vent II, Dexibell SX7 Custom Made pedalboard, 1 tier Standtastic, and a Code 8 OD.

I needed a live portable rig for Casinos with no PC or DSP Racks.

Even my beloved Solaris stays home.

These cheap ass Casinos pay 100 bucks a night, so they get the portable rig.

I left Vegas after 6 months in the late 80s because Tahoe/Reno was paying 965 cash per man a week.

Now its 3 nights for 300.

Still lots of nice rooms.

Bunch of stiff bastards..

Thanks. It's nicer than I though it would be. I wish it was mid 60's but for the price it's fine.

At the urging of a couple of drummers who come to my home for sessions often, I purchased my first ever non-keyboard gig.

And to my surprise, I'm pretty happy about it. Price was right (around $400), and I love being able to entice drummers to come over by telling them they don't need to lug their own stuff.

Since February of this year, I've gone bonkers. I've bought a Nord 5D 73, Yamaha MX88, Yamaha DBR10 powered speaker, and just a couple of hours ago, a Zoom Livetrak L-12 (combination 12 channel live mixer/ recorder /audio interface).

To help pay for my shopping spree, I recently unloaded two keyboards (Numa Stage & Acuna 73) and am about to sell a Hammond SK2. I may also sell my Roland RD300GX because it's as long as an aircraft carrier and impractical to haul to gigs.

I forgot to mention the funnest and cheapest thing I've bought this year. It's a Cajon with a remote (backwards) kick pedal. I'm having a blast playing keyboards while sitting on it and tapping simple rhythms out on the kick pedal with an occasional slap or finger roll from my right hand. I'm also trying to work with tapping a high-hat with my left foot.

At some point, I may even be brazen and give the keyboards / Cajon thing a shot as a one-man-band act because I sing as well. Even if it doesn't sound as good as playing with drum machines, sequences, loops, or tracks, at least, sink or swim, I'm trying to play all the music in real-time rather than just pressing a button and playing along with a machine. I also get to leverage some of my past experience as a drummer.

Gigs: Nord 5D 73, Kurz PC4-7 & SP4-7, Hammond SK1, Yamaha MX88 & P121, Numa Compact 2x, Casio CGP700, QSC K12, Yamaha DBR10, JBL515xt(2). Alto TS310(2)

Kronos 88 LS. Gonna use it for my live rig. Just came in this morning. Spent a few minutes with it. The action is really different but works for me. The overall wieght was also a major factor in my decision. So far very happy with my purchase. (I also own the regular Kronos 88 in my project studio so I am very familiar with the sounds and OS)

Crumar Mojo61. (Seaboard Rise49 attached to the top)

Last gig, we ended the night with Doors "Love Her Madly", tagging "Mr Mojo Rising". I slowly lifted the organ into the air, and the guitarist practically fell over laughing. Hero moment!

Recently upgraded to the Focusrite Clarett 8Pre interface for my new on-stage mixer. We're putting my old 80's synth-wave band back together and I needed something to handle my vintage synths which would also let me process effects live through Mainstage3. Thunderbolt = near-zero latency! Nice thing about it is how it works with or without an attached computer as a standalone mixer. The Output feeds directly into my Spacestation3 for a nice gig rig.

It took me a few sessions to get the hang of the software interface which is amazingly versatile. I'll be testing it out live outdoors for the first time this weekend with my church gig band.

Picked up the Radial Key Largo mixer.

Sweet little unit that sits nicely right on top of my XK1c.

First gig with it was Saturday night. Drummer came up to me after soundcheck and asked what I changed with my setup, showed him the Largo, he said everything sounded really nice.

After the gig, the soundman said the keys sounded amazing.

For a change, I ran everything to the house in stereo. The piano actually sounded like a piano, instead of a digital knockoff, and the Hammond was nice and smooth at the sometimes 'shrilly' top end.

Great piece of kit.

What we record in life, echoes in eternity.

Bought a DeepMind 12 about a week ago. Gigged with it last Saturday. I really like it though at this point I have only created about 4 sounds from scratch and tweaked about 6 more. Was able to get a decent Doors organ for "Light My Fire" it isn't perfect but for me the sound is pretty close. I'm no expert at programming it but I have been pouring over YouTube videos and have been getting along with it quite well. I was really quite surprised how well this thing seems built for only $699!

Boards: Kurzweil SP-6, Roland FA-08, VR-09, DeepMind 12

Modules: Korg Radias, Roland D-05, Bk7-m & Sonic Cell
