Will the Boss Katana AIR Line Out (stereo mini jack, has optional either with or or without effects) work okay for live stage performance when I run it to my little Mackie mixer that I that I use with my powered stereo PA speakers?

Of course i would use a mini stereo plug to dual mono cable:

From their manuals:

"(PHONES)/REC OUT jack
Connect headphones here. You can obtain powerful guitar sounds
just as if you were playing through the speaker. By using BOSS
Tone Studio you can obtain the sound of different micing (LINE
OUT AIR FEEL, p. 7). To adjust the volume, use the [VOLUME] knob
along with the [MASTER] knob.
* If a plug is inserted in this jack, no sound will be output from
the KATANAís own speaker. This is convenient if you donít want
loud sound to be produced from the speaker, such as when
youíre practicing at night."

Yes, but the cable pictured is a Hosa, a total crap cable which should be avoided at all costs.

Much agreed.

Now, with a good quality stereo TRS Mini to two 1/4" TS "Y" cable, you could get a cost-effective (cheap! grin thu ) convertsion to two XLR cables via an ART DUALZDirect 2-channel Passive Direct Box, yielding isolated balanced low-impedance outputs via an audio transformer.

I've enjoyed mine, using it with the 1/4" unbalanced "speaker compensated" Line-Out of a guitar tube-amp to run long XLR cables to a PA and monitors with great results.

Yes, it will work well for practice as the headphone out jack is not going to have much if any power. For a stage performance, I would mic the amp to the PA (if needed) and use it as a monitor. cool
