I think this is great. Anybody else using breath controllers and guitars?

Cool idea...I wouldn't be needing to sound like a flute or other wind instrument, so I probably would pass on a breath controller. I do like the guys guitar playing in the video, as I can tell that he's very talented. Summertime is a favorite of mine too. thu

I used to do a lot of synth guitar back when that concept first came out and became readily available in the late 80's, and they had a breath controller back then. Like now, I liked the concept when others played it, but was not into playing anything but guitar that sounded like a guitar for myself. So I slowly sold off my synth gear little by little until it was all gone. But that guy above sure did a bang up job with his version of Summertime.

We used to do a version of Summertime when I was the baritone in an a-Capella group called the Soundmasters back on the New Jersey Shore.

Love the idea, not sure you couldn't get at least some of the same dynamics with Velocity scaling on your MIDI module, or a CC driven by an Expression pedal? I know, that's taking us away from the Guitar, and into the murky depths of digital programming, but once you get into using Synths, the programming becomes a large factor in how expressive your sound is.

My experience with a breath controller is that it is a lot faster and more intuitive than an expression pedal. With an expression pedal I always ended up having to edit CC signals by hand after recording. With a breath controller I never need to do this and with a bit of practice (and of course good libraries) the result is realistic straight away.

Thank you for that response, good to know.

I gotta get back into tech but I think the options here go far beyond the more obvious (sounding like wind insts, etc).
Thanks for the idea(s), twothumbs

@d - I'm with you, man. Imagining BC driving a String patch, or something slightly more obvious, like a Voice/Choir patch. Maybe adding 'naturalistic' textures to pure Electronic sounds.
