Why, all of a sudden, do I have to select Flat Mode to see the replies posted on the posts here? It's not an improvement, AFAIC.

At the top left of a post page, next to New Reply is a button named "Topic Options". When you click it, a menu rolls down, and the bottom option is "Switch To" either Threaded Mode, or Flat Mode. In threaded mode, you don't see the replies, just a tiled list of links to them. In flat mode, you see all the replies like you used to automatically.
Foe some reason, the default mode is threaded for me. I don't like it.

Great.
While it was a drag for you, I'm glad this happened b/c now I know some stuff abt this site that I had no idea was there...& I think there might be some of it that's worth exploring.

However we are left w/a Mystery Question (actually 2):
How'd this happen to yer set-up here ?
What would be the very point of having a display of links to comments rather than simply the comments themselves ?
