So I'm sure at one time, there were some discussions about the long-discontinued Squier Hello Kitty guitar. Many metal guitarists acquired one to be ironic, and the prices rose to somewhat ridiculous levels for a one pickup, agathis Squier.

I saw that a Canadian company called Fishbone is selling brand new clones of this discontinued guitar. Here is the Reverb link: Listing for the questionable guitar.

Does anyone know if this is a licensed product? I reached out to Sanrio, but I was wondering if anyone knew right off the bat. I don't judge anyone else, but IP infringement is something I personally try to avoid. Thanks.

Well, I'M sure nobody HERE has ever brought up anything about them. Not to my remembrance. grin

Since your link took me to somewhere I'd have to register in order to see an image, I went looking elsewhere to see one of those toys( I'm assuming) and can't imagine why anyone would be concerned about their plight.

Sorry, Search is not very good here, as I'm sure you know.

I'm not sure if you are talking about the plight of Sanrio, Fender, or Fishbone, but I was just wondering if I can buy this with a clear conscience regarding trademarks.

And while there are 3/4 versions and even more toylike models, the one I'm talking about is regular scale and Mustang-style.

Near as I can tell, Fishbone is legit.

Also found out Fernandes made a Hello Kitty guitar- a Nomad version.

I want one... If only it came with a Floyd, or even a vintage-Strat-style "Tremolo" bridge... Pink or black hardware would make it even more betterer.

wave Here, let me Google that for you! wink (Meant good naturedly, and suggesting that Google or other external search-engines tend to work far more satisfyingly than that of this 'sites)

The guitar bearing the visage of the salutatious feline has come up in a number of threads on these 'boards over the years; a few of 'em follow...

Cool. Good info, if 100% correct 'n' accurate, thanks for the footwork, D'.

I like what appears to be a single master volume knob and no tone control concept on the double neck... cool

When you're Jimmy Page, playing a Hello Kitty guitar, you don't need a tone control. Because . . . you're Jimmy Page playing a Hello Kitty guitar.

Sho' 'nuff!

Then again, it might BE a tone control, but no VOLUME control, which might mean the ax is ALWAYS at "11", and for which also the same explanation would work. wink

The Fender norm goes the other way (i.e. tone full on instead of the volume and the tone pot can be bypassed as in the Fender Delta Tone control pot detent or totally left out). If I were running that guitar, I would want to have a kill switch, push/pull volume to switch guitars/pups or at least a master volume control (which I suspect is what is happening) to avoid unwanted bleed over noise and feedback from the guitar side that is not really in use. cool

But then, as you probably know too, all that "unwanted bleed over noise" is RIGHT UP Jimmy's alley, and he'd welcome it. wink

Yeah, he could probably put it to good use and get creative with it...I think a couple of whammy bars would be cool too! cool
