Just curious about which synths people have hung onto for dear life, that still work and that you still enjoy?

I've still got an Roland Alpha Juno 2 knocking about somewhere. I don't use it though.

My Alesis 6.2 is still doing sterling service as a controller, and when my son starts his first school band it's his for the taking.

Cheers, Mike.

I have a General Music S3 Turbo currently set up in my basement project studio. I have owned it for over 20 years. Gigged with it for 3. Heavy mofo. Best synth action ever, better than the DX7, IMO.

Still own AND still works? Yamaha CS01.

Korg Polysix - dodgy tuning on one of the oscillators
Moog Source - dicey membrane switches, sequencer has mind of its own

The little gray CS01 still rocks, and it's still a hoot to stroll around the house with.

Moog Prodigy, bought when I was in college. I'm not sorry I got it, but I'm sorry I sold my Farfisa Combo Compact Deluxe to help pay for it.

Juno-106. Excellent cosmetic condition, but one dead voice chip.

Roland SH-2 which I picked up second-hand in the early eighties. Currently on loan to a friend. I have no serious plans to use it again, but you never know ...

Sequential Pro-One and Anvil case purchased new in 1981. Still sounds great and never been serviced although some calibration would be in order.

Prophet 5 Rev 3.2. Bought it new in 1981 or 1982. Arp Odyssey Model III. Bought new in that time period. Both synths still work fine. Of course, they never leave my house.

Multimoog - I bought it brand new in 1978. It has held up really well overall.

Actually, I have two Multimoogs, but I bought the second one used in 1988.

My Korg 01Wfd workstation was acquired second-hand and became my world for 16 years. I learned a lot about HOW to sequence and mix, even through that modest display. I ran it into a MIDI splitter and played a couple of E-mu modules and other things as External instrument tracks. It went to Dead Synth Heaven two years ago, falling past the rational repair point. I bought a TR61 to keep the Triton/01W sound family in-hand and sampled the hell out of the 01W before it expired. I had a nice stack of sound disks from many sources. Now they live in Logic's EXS24 sampler. I've played instruments from many makers, but its always been Korg and then E-mu at my house. I'm impressed by the modular craze, but give me nice slab synths or give me a drum kit made from oatmeal boxes. No compromise! rawk

That’s the only synth I’ve ever played that blew me to the back of the room.

Alesis QS 8, although I recently noticed that my User bank got overwritten with the programs from one of my QCards; I'll have to look into the recovery process.

I think a friend still is using a Roland Alpha Juno 2 I sold him around Y2K.

I recently re-acquired a Generalmusic S3 (non-Turbo) that I had lent to out- absolutely agree that it has the best synth action ever, not to mention PolyAT! By any chance have you replaced the floppy drive with a Floppy Emulator?

For the record, I owned an Andromeda for ten years (sold it for ridiculous money when they were discontinued), and a Moog Voyager for 13 years (sold it because I just never bonded with it, then suddenly they came out with the Model D Reissue!). My current oldest piece is a VAX77, about 7 years, and I plan on never parting with my Model D.

Korg Mono/Poly. Bought it new in 1984 at a Sam Ash blow out for $400. Had a new walnut cabinet made for it and being refurbished by RetroLinear. I know it so well, but it still inspires and surprises me.

No. I remember us discussing this 4 or 5 years or so ago but never went ahead with that. Floppy rarely used any more but still working fine. Knock on wood.
