A couple of weeks old news apparently.

"..After more than 4 years we regret to say that we're not manufacturing this instrument any more, it's officially discontinued. We wish to thank everyone who trusted in us and chose this instrument to enrich their music..". Thinning the herd?

Yeah. And although they are different and the Burn more versatile in some ways, I have rarely if ever heard from someone in this community that prefers it to the Vent for Leslie.

Might be simply that they're not selling anymore. Just speculation.

I bought one when they first came out and like it a lot. I do not have a Vent or Leslie to compare it to, however. Most of the time it's hooked up to my M3 as a Leslie substitute, but I do connect it to my Electro or Stage. Really lights it up nicely. I like the versatility.

Sorry to see it go, but glad I have one.

Steve Nathan is the biggest name here that I can recall preferring the Burn over the Vent. Steve?

Yeah, I'm the guy that had to duck every time I said it, but I never liked the Vent. Still prefer the Burn.

Hey Steve ( I just heard in my imagination "Steve" or was it "Hey Steve" on Soul Man.. referring to the iconic Steve Cropper)
Care to suggest a setting or two for the Burn?? ( Also ducking grin )

Thread ressurection apology!!

I'm another who preferred the Burn over Vent. Their 122/147 sounds great, a bit better and beefier better than the Vent (imo). I get it but too bad they stopped manufacturing. It still holds up but I was hoping an updated version would surface.

- OD was a bit better than Vents imo, it can get gnarlier than vents too. It's all about the gain stage.
- 122/147 was a bit better than Vent in sound and sim imo, especially when used via lineout of a real Hammond. Vent wasn't awful but rather simple and thin in comparison although that's in part due to the minimal settings to tweak on the vent.
- No need to make some ridiculous cable to interface with some model clones (hammond, nord, etc). MIDI or halfmoon/remote switching is avail.
- More sim cabs/models onboard (for keys to gtr players) lot's more parameters to tweak (and save) compared to Vent.
- Verb option is 'after' the leslie/cab sim.
- Unit can transfer to many other keys as well given the array of additional FX onboard.
- lot's of presets to quickly call upon, edit your sound and save. Done. Editing was pretty dang simple.
- great quiet practice tool as well with R ch input option (connect laptop/tablet for vsti synths, or beats, tracks, etc. plug in to the R ch input, put on the headphones, and get to work in silence (clones or real Hammonds with a direct out added).
- simple remote jack switching options (on-unit stomp, midi, or 1/4in jack for halfmoon, etc.).
- at the time cost less than Vent.

But nothing bests a real, vintage leslie.

It sounded ok but I never understood the Vent pref, so much $$ for too little.

Maybe its that the Vent has real-time accessible variable control for live play and doesn’t need to be plugged into a computer to (pre-)program it? When I looked at them, that was the difference for me. I don’t use either now, so what the ding-dang-diddly-dong do i even know. Maybe smarter guys who use a Vent will confirm my hunch, ... or not.

I had both. I wanted to like the Burn better, because I liked the other effects and the MIDI controllability, but I just could not dial in a rotary effect I liked as much as what I had on the Vent.

I'm guessing that the Burn's rotary effect was equivalent to what the Mojo had at the time (apart from the tube), and the Mojo has been improved since then, so a new Burn implementation might be better. But if it was discontinued for being a weak seller, then I doubt we'll see that.
