I need a band name that when you see/hear it, you know you're gonna hear music from the 60s & 70s.
Who's got one?

How 'bout......um......does it need to relate more to 60s or 70s...?

60's 70's band has to allude to those times.

How about The Hip Ease Conspiracy.

Now that is one good one if I do say so meeself.

'60's and '70's band names ran a wide breadth of extremities. The earlier '60's names were more straightforward and simple, and then went into some long ones to some existential weirdness. The '70's didn't get too "heady" though.

For period reference, how about---

GOODRICH SANDALS

FM RESTORATION

ROCK BLOCKERS

If you want a more-or-less serious name, how about Aging Children? Anyone who recognizes the phrase will have some idea of what they can expect to hear. Maybe be sure to have a photo of the band, so no one thinks it's just a Joni tribute . . .

A name I came up with for the last band I played in was: Looking Back...we played 50s 60s 70s 80's 90s and this was around 2007 or so... cool

8-Track All-Stars

Logo would be an 8 track tape with the name of the band on it.

I used to play in a band that did 60s/70s/80s and wanted to name it that, but got shot down by the other band members who didn't feel comfortable referring to themselves as "all-stars".

Really depends on how serious you are about this. I know theme bands and have been very successful doing them, but you have to be all in. You can't half ass them. I was in a 5-PC that made $40k/yr per man just doing Friday's and Saturdays. What you said stuck a chord with me in that you want the name to be clear as to what you play. That's essential for any theme band. If you name the band, pick the songs, dress right, etc, you can make a kilking as a theme band. Casinos, private parties, the world is your oyster. The name I suggested will work if you're all in. If this is just a hobby then pick something else.

Thought of another. If you're a 21st century band, with a largely late 1960's to 1970's playlist, how about a common 21st century term for a name. Just call it---

THROWBACK

I was good friends with a cover band doing 60s/70s called the Classix. They made me realize that doing those songs really WELL takes a lot of skill - some of them are really well crafted.

So "Classix" is taken, as are "Dinosaurs" (composed of San Francisco veterans) and "Relix" - not a BAND maybe, but a Grateful Dead retrospective.

My suggestions:
Maybe "Historical Research" or "Rock Historians" - not sure how SEXY those names are, LOL.

"Good Old Daisies"?
"Days of Yore" ?
"Time Warp" - that's how I tease my brother-in-law when he reminisces too much...."You're caught in a time warp, man..." LOL

To be funny, I was once in a band we called See Weed (a play on words and herbs) The fact that I lived on an island out in the ocean and the fact that there was actual sea weed all around the place on the beach and bay fronts made for that joke. One of my band mates in that band still plays out in venues on that island and is a friend of mine on Facebook. A real good player, solid as can be be as a rhythm player and a very good lead player too.

So my second offering is See Weed.... cheers rimshot

Well, following that hint we'll skip The Fourmost.. & also Get Yer Threek On....
The best, of course, was already taken by Them & the Who....
How 'bout......um......does it need to relate more to 60s or 70s...?
Gen Then ?

What sorta music are ya going for here, PMan ?
That might give us a better handle to hang.

At this point, while there's some entertainment value to the sometimes, uh, entertaining nature of the suggested names for these ,uh, entertainers I must point out that PMan, in his all too often style, rather like a comet that only visits our system at extended periods, hasn't seemed to chk in or respond to aa direct question since he started this survey.

I suggest all further ideas be held in abeyance til we get the actual point.
Otherwise yer giving away what might be the best ideas you have for yer own future projects.

The odds of me playing in a covers band- well, ANY band, TBH- are remote. If someone deems one of my band names worth using, then I’ll have contributed something to the world at large.

(Or created a monster. Whatevs- I’m cool either way.)

Besides, I keep all my “originals” band names to myself. wink

I kinda like the Hep Replacements.

We have settled on The Ruzted Van Band(don't ask me why, I have no idea), and our facebook page has a picture of a rusted out VW microbus, minus the shovels and rakes and implements of destruction...
