I need a band name that when you see/hear it, you know you're gonna hear music from the 60s & 70s.
Who's got one?

The best, of course, was already taken by Them & the Who....
How 'bout......um......does it need to relate more to 60s or 70s...?
Gen Then ?

What sorta music are ya going for here, PMan ?

60's 70's band has to allude to those times.

How about The Hip Ease Conspiracy.

Now that is one good one if I do say so meeself.

'60's and '70's band names ran a wide breadth of extremities. The earlier '60's names were more straightforward and simple, and then went into some long ones to some existential weirdness. The '70's didn't get too "heady" though.

For period reference, how about---

GOODRICH SANDALS

FM RESTORATION

ROCK BLOCKERS

If you want a more-or-less serious name, how about Aging Children? Anyone who recognizes the phrase will have some idea of what they can expect to hear. Maybe be sure to have a photo of the band, so no one thinks it's just a Joni tribute . . .

A name I came up with for the last band I played in was: Looking Back...we played 50s 60s 70s 80's 90s and this was around 2007 or so... cool

8-Track All-Stars

Logo would be an 8 track tape with the name of the band on it.

I used to play in a band that did 60s/70s/80s and wanted to name it that, but got shot down by the other band members who didn't feel comfortable referring to themselves as "all-stars".

Really depends on how serious you are about this. I know theme bands and have been very successful doing them, but you have to be all in. You can't half ass them. I was in a 5-PC that made $40k/yr per man just doing Friday's and Saturdays. What you said stuck a chord with me in that you want the name to be clear as to what you play. That's essential for any theme band. If you name the band, pick the songs, dress right, etc, you can make a kilking as a theme band. Casinos, private parties, the world is your oyster. The name I suggested will work if you're all in. If this is just a hobby then pick something else.

Thought of another. If you're a 21st century band, with a largely late 1960's to 1970's playlist, how about a common 21st century term for a name. Just call it---

THROWBACK
