I think FB is the ultimate time killer. I would be the last person to 'panic ' if it went down completely for several days.

It might be good for some to take a FB vacation.

Go ahead, tell me I am wrong, I can take it wink

Apparently Instagram is down too. Reddit is still up, though. Joe, get to work!

Won't be me. I "burned down the wall" around the election time and deleted all my friends to make sure I couldn't come back (after making sure I had other ways to contact all the real ones). Sure they let you deactivate, but it's all too easy to pop back and it reactivates smile

Almost a year later, my stress levels are lower and I have more time for other things. I don't blame FB for my issues, it was just not a healthy thing for me to get on there.

An additional reason for ditching FB is that I'm looking for a job...while anything on the internet can be "permanent" I'm doing what I can to limit my public footprint right now. Employers certainly will try to find out what they can--and I do the same when it comes to them frankly. I've heard some will even ask you for a login. I'd say pound sand and walk out in such a case, but the point is that your personal viewpoints can be used against you.

It really isn't hard to have discipline to use it. I have to because of the band and the outreach we get boosting ads for gigs. Plus as a free too it's really helped us. I get on three days a week. More if it's summer and we are busy. I do like to see a lot of the historical groups and postings by people that are actually interesting. It can get addicting but I put it in perspective.

at work we use Facebook live streaming to stream news to people in South East Asia that might not have any other way of getting it. Broadcasts to Cambodia, for example, get over 4,000 views daily while it is live. This is an extreme example, I understand. Just wanted to point out that there are other uses for this service other than watching video's of people's cats.

I was not immersed in FB ( was there for business purposes) but I cleared out 2 years ago.
Removed my actual name, un did the friends stuff- explained what I was doing and why to them.

Even since then, I am most disappointed in how the top dude runs the place. So my 'opinion ' was further validated.

I don't believe in being involved in a site or a business like FB, where I do not agree with their operational style as it pertains to important issues. If a social media site was 80-90% to the public good, I would support it.

I don't care if its free. Thats not important. As I posted before, I don't expect folks to agree with me. I can handle it wink

But cat videos are still the best use of social media.

Fair enough but for a band it's a great tool.

Honestly, I did not even know it was down until now.

I spend very little time on Facebook and Twitter these days. I never had Instagram or Snapchat. I left LinkedIn not too long ago. I basically use Facebook and Twitter for regular updates to my creative endeavors and to do private messaging with select individuals.

These days I am mostly on VidLii video site and Discord. It is nice to not get hated for your opinions which I often did in groups with Facebook. LinkedIn was just turning into a spam pool.

Glad to be back here, too. You guys are a great group of people!

My desktop was down for about an hour, but my mobile never left. Instagram was down for about the same amount of time. Regional outages, I believe.

And its apparent that many make bad decisions as they are accepting bad information.

The dumbing down of people due to FB cannot be underestimated, IMO.
It reminds me of ' 1 stop shopping '.

The top dude has shown he is clueless about the impact of FB, as they are happy to have ad revenue from anyone/anywhere.
