Sorry. Feeling "punny" today. Anyway....

While looking up something else I ran across this name as a guitar brand:

www.ganderguitars.com

Seems to be some Canadian maker. Has quite an artistic bent I must say, and check out how he's set up the control knobs.

Anyone here know anything about them? Do they play and sound as good as they look? Or more show than "go"?

Never heard of them. Looked at the website and they look neat but not sure I like the controls in that position. Probably too expensive. Jim

I think I saw a price somewhere on the site of about $5,000. Too much for ME, but I've known some to pay more for less. wink

It`s one of those `if I win the lottery` deals-I have at least half a dozen makers in mind for that day. I think there was a thread on that `cost no object-what would you buy?` theme a while back.
Anyway they sure are pretty.

I've never seen one in person, nor know of anyone who has.

If I had the money to buy one, there are other makers higher up the G.A.S. list than Gander. But if I had the money to significantly whittle down my G.A.S. list? Oh yeah, I'd try one.

The knobs placement was clearly designed as a response to those who feel they get in the way, but I have to imagine it will trip up a lot of guitarists. The ones that are "tucked under" may make some techniques virtually impossible.

Well, since I don't subscribe, and GP mag is impossible to find anywhere 'round my "neck-a", do any of you "archivists" know if GP did a review of them? And perhaps find and post it?

Kinda interesting interview, but still doesn't give me any kind of objective review of quality, playability, etc. frown

There`s a good reason for that-there are none. At least none posted that I can find.

Great job Skip, lots of good info in that clip...I like the no-truss rod concept with no neck adjustments needed. The hand made Bigsbys are very cool too...not sure about the knob locations but, I think he's right, easy to get used to without having to look at them and it gets them off of the front of the body. The carvings are beautiful and I love those headstocks too. He said $7,000 for a guitar he traded for his website set up. That's out of my budget. We were only talking $5,000 before LOL! Very cool! cool

I find it hard to fathom that GP didn't do any kind of test of those axes.
