Wow, RIP Glen Campbell. He spent many a year living in the Phoenix area at The Biltmore Estates. His digs via the link below. I know the area from my estimating positions, and visiting job sites in that area. You sure can't live there if you are poor......

I knew he had dementia, I sure hope he did not suffer too much. Alzheimer's patients do suffer emotionally when they are still able to remember who they are and realize their memory/consciousness is fading away.

We were all expecting this, but that doesn't make it any less sad.

No doubt, millions will be saddened today. Good bye, sweet "lineman". You'll never be forgotten.

Not unexpected but sad news nonetheless. He was a heck of a talent and seemed like a truly nice guy despite fame and success-showed everyone how to do it even after you`re done it.
RIP Mr. Campbell.

One thing I have trouble finding is an instrumental recording he made of Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues".

He was once a guest on the old Lloyd Thaxton show and Thaxton did a pantomime of it with Glen's 12-string on the set.

A lot of people don't know it but he did a very nice job playing the pipes too. I saw his live show twice in South Lake Tahoe and I'm so glad I did. He was a great talent. Here he is playing Amazing Grace for us:

As one who HAS tried playing bagpipes once, I gotta say I admire that! I was dizzy for an hour afterwards, and I only gave it a couple of minutes! grin

My father used to watch his variety show, and that's where I first heard John Hartford. So much of the Music we grew up with wouldn't have sounded the same without him. My deepest respects . . .

I always kind of liked Campbell, his pop tunes were very lovely & he was a skilled player. But my respect & appreciation just went up 1,000% when I found out today he played the pipes. I raise a wee dram for Glen.

Thanks for that info d. Now I know where to go to BUY it, but I'd have settled for just hearing a clip of it. One I WOULDN'T need to register and join some kind of "club" for or have to get a smartphone so I can download their "APP"(for a fee). rolleyes

Funny, but looking at the personel list on the "Dylan Jazz" lp, Glen ISN'T cited as playing guitar, but piano. crazy

WAIT! Misread the way they had it printed. crazy grin

"He did cocaine more than just about anybody out there during what we called the 'L.A. Blizzard,' when everybody was into cocaine. But he had a real problem with it, I mean a huge problem. He navigated through that, I navigated through that, we both came out the other end with great families," Cooper recalls.

Did I NOT say "thanks"?

And as I did state, I canNOT spend hours on end chained to my desktop searching through an endless pile of uselessness to find what I'm looking for.

Sorry. Didn't know there were any "requirements".

But really, I only spend maybe a half hour or less in this place a day. And two hours TOPS online(often less), split between this and three other forums. And sometimes THAT time is split up in smaller doses throughout the day, maybe ten minutes here or there, whenever. And only IF there's opportunity.

Sticking to the basis of any subject & / or having some knowledge of what one opines on are, sadly, not required.
