Obviously not all forum members visit and/or post every day like some of us, but there are a few who have contributed in the recent past but haven't been around in awhile. One of those is Lindaru. She was a regular part of the gang here but dropped out of sight last April.

Who's on your "Where have they gone" list? idk

There was a real curmudgeon from Boston that may have suffered ill health. He had a short fuse and was a regular. Don't remember his name, but I miss him.

WMP: last post was in 2014

Oh, I miss the Sven from a couple years ago. The new Sven is great and often hints that the old Sven is perhaps only a keystroke away.

Jeff Learman. I think he's the reason I discovered the forum - I googled his Clavinova sample. I hope he's OK.

Cheers, Mike.

This sort of thing really hits you when you've been on a forum 15-20 years, especially the ones that are more "general" and not focused on something like this one is.

Man, no kidding... those who have already been mentioned all gave me a pang too.

One poster I wasn't necessarily a big fan of at the time, but whom I miss now that he's gone, is Bill@WelcomeHomeStudios (Was there a .com at the end of that?)

And yeah, once you toss in the handful of longtime members who crossed the line one too many times and faced dB's "not mad, just disappointed" face, that lifts the corner on a little hole in my heart. frown

There was someone who was here several years ago... Chas or Chaz something. Used to post like 5 or 6 threads a day.

Don't know if the P120..guy is still here. I seem the only Chinese who visited the forum regularly during that era(since 2001?).

Cygnus64 and Dave Horne are on Facebook, I'm friends with both of them there. My guess is a lot of people who came here for the more social aspects and not the tech stuff stopped visiting as much when Facebook got bigger. I saw the same thing happen on a dog training board I was on, it's traffic is minimal anymore when it used to be hundreds of posts a day.

Posto ergo sum. If one does not post, does one exist?

I've been mostly absent. Little kids under foot and not playing in bands, therefore no gear to discuss. But being here is good for my musical motivation, so I should try harder.

What about the young Canadian guy in the Floyd tribute band? (Does that narrow it down to about 5 people?) Was a time when he was in just about every thread.

Even people you often disagreed with, you miss them when they disappear.

I talked to Wayne in 2012 as he had a good handle on the music scene there. We exchanged numbers because I knew I would be in Boston. I had a feeling he had been through a lot.I was in Boston competing in Judo in 2012 and 2013 but we could never hook up, we couldn't make it happen for some reason. Plus I was with my family. He was a cool guy as I remember and we were talking a bout gear, music and backline stuff there in Boston. He just dissapeared??

Kanker returns in a thread where I would have listed him first.
Jim Alfredson is also much more rarely seen around these parts.

Sorry I post as "soapbox" so rarely, Robert. I miss those people—and those days—too. Let's add steadyb and Magpel to that group, shall we?

I think it's Facebook's lure that grabbed Jeff and Lee, plus in Lee's case a bit of forum burnout as she spent too many years at the helm of one of Harmony Central's forums. I last spotted Dan arguing in HC's political forum, but that was years ago. I have the impression that Valky has moved on from music.

Best,

Geoff

A few more from the early days, now absent:

Steve LeBlanc, Gus Lozada, Griffinator, Rod S, meccajay, Geosync, DJ Drunken Master, Dave Pierce, Steve Force, Botch, MidLifeCrisis, SFOracle, Dan O, SilverDragonSound, Red Winger, SteveRB...

Honorable mention to alphajerk and Tedster, who never posted a lot in this forum but who posted prolifically at this site.

Last, but not least, Craig Anderton, who started the whole ball rolling, but who rarely stops by anymore to enjoy it.

Best,

Geoff
