Nice!

Vintage Vibe continues to lead the way in this area, and I think that's great!

Love the red sparkle top!

Thanks gang.

You know one downside of that beautiful, perfect red sparkletop is that I'm not inclined to put another keyboard on top. In fact I broached the subject with her this morning and got this rather curt response: "I ain't your mule, fool!" So I guess that's settled.

Here's a clip. The tone is purely derived from the harmonic clarifier active EQ. I added a little stereo vibrato and then D-verb reverb which also adds the bit of chorus.

Red Rhodes 1

Holly crap, that's gorgeous. OK, I played Rhodes back in the day. We all did.

But these days, the question is -- what's worth schlepping around?

Given the visual appeal of your mod, I'd be in the camp of --- yeah, that's really worth schlepping around. I'd spend the extra ten minutes. And the audience would realize -- hey -- that's something special.

One of the reasons I/m fascinated with the notion of killer piano shells for my APs.

Best of luck with your new toy!

Thanks for the comments gang. I tell you that sparkletop from Vintage Vibe is so perfect I'm thinking of adding one to my 1975 Suitcase. With that instrument the tolex is fine but it could stand new hardware and maybe new grill cloth. I'll wait for the next VV sale.

I highly recommend the VV hardware kit ($50 for Stage) if you love your Rhodes and want to update the looks at bit.

A far as gigging, that's going to be a stretch for most. If I was playing in a combo where I'm playing Rhodes maybe 80%+ of the time, then it might make sense. If you're doing more of a jazz/latin thing with maybe a vocalist, a real Rhodes can sound beautiful. The longer sustain fills in the cracks better than digital APs, IMO. Plus you can add FXs for more tonal variety. I gigged with my Mark V for awhile in a situation like that. It sounded fantastic. But if you go through the trouble and expense of new tolex and new everything else, it's kind of obscene to gig with it.

Busch.
