Gearing up to perform Sgt. Pepper's with some local guys... any guitar that I plug into my little Vox Pathfinder Solid State amp sounds like the album! I might use an A/B/A+B switch and use it as a solo boost along with my AC15.

I'm pretty sure that I could buy an identical one that George Harrison never used, and I would sound the same through either amp. And I wouldn't sound at all like George Harrison, since I'm not him.

The first thing that struck me was that it had to be some kind of prank, or even a code? (Yes, I'm slightly paranoid, but give me a break, I live right on top of D.C. . . .)

The numbers are, well, odd. Wasn't it 10808 something the other day, plus, $1080 and change for shipping; today it's $108584.86 (which rounds up to $108585) and the shipping has also changed to $1085.85. I'm wondering if I should play those numbers in the lottery today? They don't seem arbitrary, but they don't seem to have anything to do with market value, either. It'll be interesting to see if they keep changing, over the next few days, if it doesn't sell.

On to more real-world matters. Let's say it is George Harrison's Amp head; what are you going to really do with it? It's 50 years old, it's a rare and expensive item; where are you going to play it and who's going to maintain it? The term "White Elephant" comes to mind . . .

Now, it if were one of George's Guitars . . .

+1 Winston, I wouldn't mind having that 12 string that Rickenbacker gave to George! I'm sure I couldn't afford his guitar, but they do make copies for $2,600!

I'm guessing the odd non-rounded off dollar amounts is due to foreign exchange rates providing . The amp head is in UK.

The numbers have changed again, this morning; now it's $107,762.33, plus $1077.62 for shipping? It's possible the exchange rate is also changing daily, but I'm going to keep checking in.

Exchange rates do change daily, but that much? Curioser & curioser.

If nothing else, I'm having fun watching the price go up and down, and wondering WTH?

For that price for shipping I'd expect it to float to my house on a gold lined cloud and carried inside on a litter by at least 12 young Nubian maidens.

Not those brown shirted rehab escapees from UPS.
