Man, I gotta tell ya - Zappa's music and arrangements do absolutely nothing for me except encourage me to reach for the 'mute' button.

I see where you're coming from, but it lacks the Hagstrom tailpiece. It does have, however, a very typical Hofner neck with white & black bar blocks, and the head MIGHT say Hofner on it. Framus, though, used a very similar neck.

I have found a pic of an older Hofner guitar utilising the same body shape, control panel, pickup design etc.

Since this was recorded in London I presume in the '60's, the use of Hofner instruments would have been very likely.
