The golden voice of Rock is gone at 52. No details yet. He was on tour with Soundgarden and had just finished a show at the Fox in Detriot.

Whoa, that's awful. One of my favorites.

Take a listen to the Euphoria Morning album, some really interesting songwriting on there. High on my list of desert island music.

Simply put, one of the best rock singers of all time.

Death now being investigated as a suicide.

Tragically sad.

Miserable enough to go out like this with everything he had... born into a large musical family, wife and kids... twice. Earning your living making your own music. He was off the drugs they say, but that's how depression and addiction goes. When you're in it, you think it won't go away and you'll never be back on top again. Can't see the flowers, just the weeds, you know what I mean? But it's cyclical. Freaking roller coaster ride all your days. I guess it is for all of us, just we all handle things differently and once you're on the meds/drugs, you're on and off them over and over again.

His Songbook album has been a regular accompaniment to my woodworking. Huge voice.
I happened to be listening to his cover of Prince's song "Nothing compares 2 u" with my daughter last night. We were talking about how a good singer is like a movie: he/she suspends your disbelief and you are immersed. You stop worrying about parameters like pitch, breathing, etc and simply go to the place they are constructing. Chris Cornell was very good at that transformation.
Very sad. Not sure who else could do this justice:

What a terrible loss, eviscerated. No matter how together someone may appear, we are all broken. Don't take them for granted....look deeper.

He wasn't my thing as far as type of music because I didn't like grunge, I never got it even when it was out in 1992, but had a good tone. I wanted to see him to sing other kinds of music. I remember he did a Prince cover acoustically also. It made me wonder what he would sound like singing other types of music? I bet he could have done it.

He also did Billie Jean. I wasn't really into the grunge either but his voice was strong and appealing that I listened to alot of his music years ago.
