Bass line didn't hit you when you were young because you heard it on AM radio in your father's Plymouth Fury III. The only hip thing that made it out of those speakers was the cowbell at the end of the chorus. So....Not your fault.
Jeff Healey did a version of this - it was the first time I'd heard the song and it was great - the Bass part was class. The Stealers Wheel version is very cool also. It always gets people boogieing when we play it!!
I'm actually auditioning for a blues band, and they sent me their set list. They do the Jeff Healey version. Not to contradict Seamy (but I will ), this version's bass line isn't as riffy or ear-catching as the original. Maybe I'll find a way to blend elements of the two.
