Any founding fathers, or engineers that used to work on GEM? Were they based in Finland prior?

Design aesthetic resembles something like a Kurzweil Artis. Can we assume they are also using Fatar actions?

160 note poly is less than average these days (except for Nord which it trounces in that regard - only matters in solo/duo play of course) and when layering. Surprised they needed to limit the poly while making use of modeling tech and that tiny ROM. So, are they using sampled attacks in that 128mb of PCM and modeling the sustain? Something like TruePianos? They've checked off some buzz words with the modeled string resonance and damper resonance.

UI looks dead simple - which is always nice to see. 2 headphone jacks on the front are also nice, as are the choice of balanced TRS outs. Would be nice to see them implement something like Nord's "switch to mono" function, or at least provide some nice mono sample libraries.

IIRC old Drake technology was 320 note polyphony; this is half that. I really do like the acoustic piano in my GEM Equinox 88 Pro and the acoustic piano in the Promega 3 of 10 years ago was outstanding. I wish them good luck......

Yes, some of the engineers that worked for GEM in italy were involved with ProMega 2+ project. Generalmusic was earlier based in Italy.

Yes, the keybed is Fatar TP-40 GH.

Oof, just caught that too. 55.12lbs ouch.
Maybe they are using the Fatar TP-40W or H... Yeah, that's heavy, for comparison...

NP3 is 40.1lbs $2999
RD-2000 - 47.84lbs $2499
CP4 - 38.58lbs $2299
MP7 - 46lbs $1799
S90XS - 49.6lbs just noticed it's discontinued or not being stocked
MOX8 - 32.85lbs $1699.99 - I guess this fills its place in the lineup
PX-5S - 24lbs $999.99

And I'm guessing it's being assembled in Finland... if US dealers pick it up, it's going to be on the Nord side of pricing. I wish them well too, but this is going to be a tough sell for the specs. Now, spec's don't mean everything - it may very well sound great and again, the UI looks simple.

That's correct. I'm hearing that we may learn more about the Promega 2+ at Frankfurt Music Messe in April smile

Still no Hammond simulation...

I have the pRp 800 and it's still very nice. No real need to switch out but it is on the heavy side. Excellent Rhodes, Wurli and acoustics I think are very good. They have the worst organ patch I have ever heard however.

And yet, ring dings have been with us all along... :-)

Back on topic, this is exciting news. I owned "something" in each generation of GEM's modeled piano line.
