Josh Doctson is not going to be getting any love on DC sports talk radio after that dropped touchdown pass with 50 seconds to go to take the lead.

That was a great, competitive game! With score at 20-20 with just eight seconds left, it was remarkable to see Kansas City score nine points in the time remaining. Those of us who went with the Chiefs in the Pick'em Pool are breathing a sigh of relief.

Kansas City remains the only undefeated team in the NFL, but Washington played them tough. That game could have easily gone either way.

Best,

Geoff

I have the same reaction as Cam when most of the ESPN staff tries to discuss football.

Whitney Mercilus and J.J. Watt both went out tonight. facepalm I just heard the diagnosis for Watt but I don't know if that fracture is season ending.

[And I just tried to claim Texans D on waivers in FF for this upcoming week...]

Congrats Geoff!

Thanks, Mark.

Aikman was right. The Cowboys left the Packers too much time when they scored with 1:11 remaining. Even so, I breathed a sigh of relief when it was finally over. Great game by Dallas today.

Best,

Geoff

For the Giants' WR corps, and the Texans D on the same weekend with both Watt and Mercilus out for the season (and Cushing still on suspension). Like Al or Cris said Sunday night, just when the Texans get their offense together...

The closest I can think of is in college a couple of seasons ago when two Terp receivers broke their legs similarly in the same game.

All you fans of playoff and Super Bowl contenders griping about how your seasons are "done". After only week 5. I'd bet not.
I'll see your First World/NFL elite team problems and raise them with my beloved Cleveland Browns. I just want to see us win a game. Or catch a ball. Or make a field goal. Or....

Sure, it's technically possible that an 0-5 team that's decimated by season-ending injuries to some of its best players could win out, make the playoffs, and win the Super Bowl; but does a single one of us here think it will happen?

Nonetheless, it's just one season; and the Giants could eventually benefit from the draft choices they'll get as a result of this year. On the other hand, Cleveland has seemed to be the most hopeless team in the league for a long time—regardless of draft picks. You have my sympathy, kpl1228.

That said, at least the Browns have a storied past to be proud of. That's more than can be said for the Saints and the Buccaneers awful teams of old before they finally cured their losing ways. And just like those franchises, the Browns will eventually leave the cellar and even probably win a championship again. In the meantime, Cleveland has the success of the Cavaliers and Indians to enjoy.

(And for that matter, New York has the revived Yankees to enjoy. Game Five of their ALDS should be exciting.)

Best,

Geoff

Correct, Geoff. Reality and mathematical probabilities are far apart in this particular situation.

Deshaun Watson already rising up Texans' career passing charts

Quote:
Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson has started just four games in his career, and he already ranks seventh on the franchise's all-time passing touchdowns list.

Granted, the Texans only are in their 16th year of existence, but the team has used 15 different starters at quarterback.

As soon as Watson entered the game as a starter, he was tied with Tom Savage and Dave Ragone as Texans starting quarterbacks without a touchdown pass. Of course, it didn't take him long to rocket past them, and the likes of Matt Leinart, Brandon Weeden, Ryan Mallett, Tony Banks and T.J. Yates.

With his five touchdown passes in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, he moved past Case Keenum - who played in 10 games with the Texans - with 12 career touchdowns in five games.

He could surpass Brock Osweiler's 15-touchdown effort from a year ago with one more good game and eventually settle in at No. 3 all-time after his rookie season.

He also already ranks fourth all-time on the franchise's list of rushing yards for a quarterback. Watson has rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Only David Carr (1,235 and 8 TDs), Matt Schaub (229 and 4 TDs) and Ryan Fitzpatrick (184 and 2 TDs) have done better.

I have to admit, the Browns are in a vicious circle. Eventually, Bill Murray will get it right though.

It's a pity their great defense is decimated just when they finally get a talented quarterback.

But when the Texans' defense is healed, watch out!

Maybe because they got to play first this week? wink

(The Packers could join them at 5-1 on Sunday.)

Whether Green Bay matches the Eagles' record or not, Philadelphia looked great against the third team that ended last week at 4-1. Congrats on Philly's win tonight, Dave. cool

Rats!

Aaron Rodgers suffers broken collarbone, could miss rest of season, team says

The last time this happened, Rodgers was out for nine weeks; so it's not quite season over yet. I hope all goes smoothly during his healing process.

The Bears suck. Again. But their rookie QB, whom I'm glad they are playing in place of Glennon, looks promising, while of course making green rookie mistakes.

At least the Bears beat the Ravens. With injuries plaguing the Packers and Vikings and the Lions allowing 52 points yesterday, I wouldn't write off the Bears just yet. They're only two games out of first with 10 games left to go.

The media is in typical overdrive in reaction to Aaron Rodgers's injury. They're saying Rodgers is the best quarterback in the history of the game and it spells disaster for the Packers to lose him—especially considering how decimated the rest of the team already is.

Granted, the rest of the team is decimated and Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback; but as a fan of both Rodgers and Brett Favre, I'm reminded that it is possible for a great quarterback to follow another great quarterback. Dak Prescott did a great job taking over for Tony Romo last year as well.

Most media pundits acknowledge—and then quickly dismiss—how well Brett Hundley performed during the preseason; and of course, preseason isn't much of an indicator of the season ahead, but it does show us at least that Hundley knows the Packers' system.

Patience is the only way to see what we have in Brett Hundley as a quarterback. I'm rooting for Brett and content to see how it plays out. In fact, I feel something of a common bond with Brett in that he grew up next door to the town where I spent the bulk of my childhood, he spent his college years in the community where I spent most of my adult life, and he's playing professionally in the state where I lived during my favorite year of my childhood.

Best,

Geoff

Well, at least the Packers led the Saints for over half of the game. It's going to be a tough road ahead without Rodgers and an overall decimated team, but there's still reason for hope.

The Rams on the other hand are full speed ahead routing the Cardinals 33-0, even though Arizona looked reenergized last week after the addition of Adrian Peterson.

Best,

Geoff
