I can't find one of these nowhere in my usual 30min radius to try. It's going to require tolls or public trans into Manhattan. At which point - I better have a list of others I'd like to try in the same visit. $3k plus $400 for the triple pedal then another couple hundred for a good case. I'm skeptical, it has to play crazy better than the usual suspects for me to invest in that bit of aluminum and silicon.

The MPC 2.0 software can run either on a computer or compatible MPC hardware.

As well as releasing new standalone MPC hardware, Akai Pro has also announced updated companion software. What's more, this isn't only compatible with the forthcoming MPC X and MPC Live, but also with the existing MPC Touch and MPC Studio Black.

can you give us a head up on the feel of the action_?

Without giving away too much of what I'll say in the review, it's awesome - not just the feel, but the connection to the sounds that their new tech brings is really noticeable from the first few seconds you start playing.

ES-110 looks great... it even still has real MIDI jacks!

I'll be curious to feel the new action. I liked the ES-100 action, particularly in the way it "connected" to the board's sounds, but on its own, I could see room for improvement. I wonder if it may have a triple sensor (not that I find that absolutely essential).

Also curious to hear the speakers, the max volume was a weakness before. It's still only 7 watts per speaker, but the bigger speakers could sound fuller when pushed. (Speaker efficiency itself is another variable.)

I hope the effects toggle allow you to defeat the effects that were baked into the EP samples on the 100.

Still not perfect... I like having Line Inputs on boards with speakers, it can be very convenient. And more than that I still wish it had even a simple 2-digit LED display or lights over the buttons, some way to tell what sound is selected before you hit a key. If you ever use an 88 as the bottom of a 2-board stack, and come back to the 88 after only having played the 2nd board for a while, it is irritating to not be able to tell at a glance what sound your 88 is set at.

The ES-110 looks like a winner, but is bluetooth MIDI a viable alternative to USB? In terms of latency etc.

I really wish some of these pianos came in 76 or 73 key versions. Some of need reduced weight and increased portability instead of 88 keys. Just my opinion. YMMV

I think blue tooth is great for running audio from your smart phone apps through the internal speakers, to play along with that's great. Latency to a computer or to a blue tooth speaker - probably annoying for most of us or the pickier most of us.

Its not just the weight. A smaller size makes transportation, setup, and stage real estate much easier.

Supposedly low latency is possible with the Korg microkey bluetooth.

I didn't play my korg micro key air a whole minute before I knew I was sending it back due to latency. Maybe it's just me.

The general consensus I have observed is that the music industry is on the dull edge of computer technology, IE they are always a generation behind. The drive to low cost and the long development cycle precludes latest technology.

Orion32 HD

http://en.antelopeaudio.com/products/orion32-hd/

For those of you Pro Tools users who dream of an HD system:

Last year saw Avid release Pro Tools HD software as a separate product. Pro Tools HD users no longer need to purchase a piece of Avid hardware in order to own the license for the professional software. To accompany the separation of the software license and Avid’s own hardware, Avid also released the Digilink license. This is an additional license required if you intend on using Avid’s HDX and HD Native cards, or the HD Thunderbolt Native platform with an interface such as this new Orion32 HD.

Whilst this is great news for users, be aware that you will need to include the cost of this license if you decide upon a third party Digilink interface. Many are speculating that Avid are moving away from hardware and playing to their strength with software widely known in the industry. That's potentially a good thing for users, and the release of this Orion32 HD is an exciting alternative...

MOON Amplification
http://www.moonamp.com

skamp and provado models

The amazing spatial effect of the SKAMP ORBITED speaker is produced by the special configuration of 12 high-performance sound transducers covering all four faces of the cabinet, four 100 Watt RMS amplifiers, all coupled with the signal processing power of a dual-core digital signal processor (DSP) for the incredible sound from this little package. 45.5 lbs

class-D amplifiers and a switch-mode power supply

Each of the horns has 12 times the throat area of a traditional long, narrow rotary horn, so there is no throat distortion no matter how loud you play.

has its own woofers with a crossover bypass to allow a full-range operation mode.

If more bass is wanted, pair the with one of our subwoofers: bassLiteTM, bigBassTM or our stationary subBassTM.

has extended high frequency response to make the key clicks cut through the mix.

Selecting the horn characteristic in the skamp kontrollerTM will emphasize or attenuate the key clicks.

Because skamp is loud and has spacial effects that fill the room or area, a mic setup is NOT needed for live performance.

FP-90 was announced earlier this year ya. Still marked as "coming soon" at the shops in the US. Roland chose to include the model along with the others in their run up to NAMM news. <shrug>

This is pretty cool. t.c. electronics has release VSS3 in native format. This used to be only available in the very expensive System 6000 hardware (which I owned at one time). Now between this and the Lexicon software you can have both of these premier reverbs.

TC Electronic VSS3 Native is available now for $199, with a special launch price of $159, ending this weekend. It requires macOS 10.9 or later, an AU, VST, or AAX plugin host, and an iLok ID (USB dongle supported but not required).

So, word is that Behringer changed their minds, and now will be displaying the Deepmind 12 at their booth, which contradicts what I was told (and repeated elsewhere here on the forum)... so that'll be something to look for. twothumbs
