Nice once, thanks Busch! Very smart, Mr. Behringer to invest in patch design up front for launch. That makes a lot of difference in the promo vids and on the showroom floor.

facepalm Don't you know as a reputable synth guy you are *supposed* to say "the presets, like ALL presets, SUCK!". cop

Of course, me being of ill repute, can say I love the presets and can't wait to get my hands on one. rockit

blush you're right! laugh

But I do know the presets can make or break a synth for a lot of people who actually don't love to start from scratch and just like to tweek the knobs! rockit

That patch demonstration video gives us a great view of the front panel because it shows the yellow boost light (low frequency boost under the HPF slider) is on for most of the patches - and is at least partially responsible for it's humongous sound. The few patches it's off sound a little more ordinary in the girth department.

The boost switch seems to be doing something else too. Notice how patches keep their levels the same whether the filter is opened or closed? That behavior is like no Roland I've ever known.

But I like it smile

Interesting. Are you suggesting there's a leveler/automatic level control to even out volume patch to patch? If so, is it a digital sensor that controls and analog volume or is it purely a digital effect?

Actually I'm going to have to take back the boost being responsible for the behavior of the filter. Looking again I think the yellow light is an edit light. But the synth does behave this way for some reason. I've noticed it in all the demos. Reason unknown...

Busch.

Finaly; a player demos it. And just as I was about to pull the trigger on a new Minilogue...OY!

Who am I kidding? The wait list on this thing is bound to be a year long. I almost swung for a Mopho X4, but had some unexpected expenses that squeezed the funds. I'm thinking the Minilogue will help brush up sound design knowledge so when DeepMind12 does finally become widely available, there might be less of a learning curve...right? Surely the kind brethren and sistren here can chime in to help rationalize some GAS relief...

Presets are the life blood of soft synths, Omnisphere boasts over 12,000.

The good thing about presets is that the purists can ignore them and build from scratch and the EDM muso's can tweak and play.

can't express how true this is. in the softsynth world, ios, etc. if the presets blow, the synth doesn't sell.

They said they r corded right into the camera and normalized the audio. Cameras usually put compression on the recorded audio, and normalizing would make it all the same level.

No, completely dependent on the camera. Even a basic Canon DSLR which I use has the ability to bypass the "auto gain" control.

I just asked about this in the comments section of the Sonicstate Video. Nick asked for questions, so maybe he'll answer it in the full review. But we'll find out for ourselves in a few weeks probably. It's one of the first things I'll check.

The DeepMind 12 sounds very good, but to me, the low end on the matrix 12 or 6 is just unbeatable. I had forgotten how exactly incredible it was, and then, I found this video. At low volumes it just sounds good, but cranked, with a good sub, and it sends chills down my spine. If the DeepMind 12 can do this, that would really be something to me.

I notice that Sweetwater has a page already for the DeepMind12 listed. Is there an actual release date for this thing yet?

Looks like Behringer is having a Deepmind 12 event near LA a couple days before NAMM

Interesting though... I recall from the interviews, reviews, or online article I read (somewhere anyway) that the DM 12 was supposed to ship by the end of the year. Obviously that ain't happening.

A major US distributor's website suggests they will receive the first shipment during the third week of January.

I pounced on it (fell off the GAS wagon) with a preorder last week. Any other takers that care to share here?

I pre ordered too from Sweetwater.
I'm in on the January delivery as far as I know.
If not Solaris has me covered.

Just need a cheaper stage Synth with sound quality.
Something I can afford to buy again if it gets destroyed by my Bassist.

Solaris is expensive and I would never be able to get another one in time.
I believe this synth is a game changer like the DX7 was.
In terms of sales, availability, AR, WiFi, etc.

Nice to go to a retailer and just grab another.

Really hope the Rackmount can be cascaded and have splits like an OBX-a.

Sounds great, sign me up. Great analog sound and very cheap. I wonder if they have a red model for $2000 more?

I'm leaning towards picking up a Roland System 8 mainly for the Juno 106 plug-out. Figure I could work around the 8-note polyphony.

Well, if the DeepMind 12 is a Juno 106 on steroids with 12-note polyphony, I may have to wait for it to hit the store. cool

For those that aren't watching the NAMM thread, Behringer has changed their minds and will have the Deepmind 12 on the floor at NAMM this year.

Figured most folks in this thread would want to know. wink

Oh, and the word is that the first shipment went out to a select group of users & industry types (Deadmau5 was one, which I mention only to push buttons wink razz ) for them to provide feedback that could alter the OS in the final, first 'production' run.

Here in Canada they're hoping for the product to be in stores by end of Q1 2017.

That makes sense.
Many people won't buy a synth without hearing it.
After all these dozens of demos I've seen only prove it's got a great filter.
But for 1 large and 30 days to decide it's worth a short.
