How do the faders and pots feel? I'm guessing smooth refers to their movement... do they feel substantial? a little resistance when you turn, caps are snug?

What I am hearing through all the bleeps, bloops, and special effects sounds, is a very musical instrument. Of course I'm not hearing or playing it in person, but with the sounds I am hearing I can envision using them in different songs, and to me that is key to a well designed keyboard.

Too late for me. I've already positioned it with my wife as something that's gonna happen sooner or later.

And I'm gonna need a three-tier stand as well smile

Yes, but it's a 1/2 step off from the rest of the band.

3/4? Did anybody ever actually figure out exactly how much it was off? I've heard all the theories of what might have happened...sample rates and all that.

Hmmm, I wonder if it is susceptible to analog drift, if you don't let it warm up good before playing it? ( that used to suck on the old analogs)

So more demos that demonstrate electronics do sound fun but not necessarily deeply musically interesting and digital effects spoil a lot of analog niceness easily, and are hard to make right. I knew that.

Hey Theo-

If you don't mind can you list a few analog synths you do think are musically interesting and have that "analog niceness"?

A very short answer may help put things in perspective. No need to explain or justify your response, and of course no obligation to answer at all.

Thanks.

What's musically interesting is what's coming out of the mind of the player - the instrument is the vehicle. No matter if it's a Moog Voyager or a VST we came to hear what the artist did with it. The vehicle is interesting of course to the artist for other reasons - starting with how well it allows the player to speak.

The story I've heard is that the synth track was sampled at 48KHz but the playback came out at 44.1KHz.

Edit: Actually sounds like it was the other way around. The synth had too high pitch.

Dan Fisher with the Deep Mind prototype at Knobcon. Plenty of blips and beeps....

Dan puts the basic sync engine (sync, lfo's etc.) through it's paces ... but the EFX engine really comes into it's own in this video right about the 6-7 minute mark.

There was a video posted of a synth-pop duo performing a song - yes, a regular ol' pop song - using this synth. I forgot how many pages back in this thread it was. I'm sure you can find it using the Svengle techniques.

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but midi over wifi, also I like the shortcuts for mod routings.

OK, this is about the coolest, most innovative thing Behringer could possibly do:

(Klonk for video)

I love the idea of using VR/AR tech to make interfaces that would be completely impractical in the physical world. I'm also a little bit annoyed as I work with this tech in my day job and built a simple virtual reality soft synth with an XYZ modulation cube like the one in the video a few months back for fun. If only I'd published it!

So now we have virtual reality controlling a synthesizer using real analog. Makes perfect sense. puff

This thing just keeps sounding more and more amazing. It's the FXs that separate it from the crowd. Love these sounds.

Someone has been making patches for this beeotch and I likey!!!!!!!!!
Nice once, thanks Busch! Very smart, Mr. Behringer to invest in patch design up front for launch. That makes a lot of difference in the promo vids and on the showroom floor.

facepalm Don't you know as a reputable synth guy you are *supposed* to say "the presets, like ALL presets, SUCK!". cop

Of course, me being of ill repute, can say I love the presets and can't wait to get my hands on one. rockit

Doggone it, yet another amazing synth comes out that I won't be able to resist...This has been one h3!! of a GAS year - The Montage, OB6, Minimoog Model D reissue, and now this. drool
Methinks Behringer is going to have a runaway hit on their hands with this. I'm sure they'll have trouble building them as fast as we'll be buying them. For probably $900 street or less, I can't imagine any synth head being able to pass this up! twothumbs
