Wow! These sound great - a 4 CD set featuring the Jaco version of the band curated and produced by Peter Erskine and Tom Zawinul. I'm listening to the second CD still, working my way through, and it is essential listening so far - and has great sound.

Although many people's favourite line-up, I found that times (especially live) this line-up could tend towards showboating and cliche so it's a delight to find these recordings are anything but - far superior to 8:30 for example.

Jaco is at his most musical and team-focussed here. What I like best is there is a general sense as a listener that you are not sure just what they may play next and what the direction will be the track goes in. Shorter, Zawinul, Pastorius, Erskine and Thomas created something very alive and special in these performances.

You should get this.

I had the privilege to see Jaco with Weather Report live in Washington DC, probably about 1980. Great show.

Got to see them in Berkeley, CA with that lineup around the same time is Richard. A concert I'll never forget!

I have basses to play, places to be and good music to make!

I think I saw the same tour -- February or March, at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center, eighth row center.
