I know I know.... Way too early to discuss anything about this since theres no info other than the rumor mill going around that yamaha opened new trademark accounts named montage and reface.

But if montage is the new flagship workstation, it will be coming at a very good time for me. I just hope yamaha puts organ patches in there that compete with nord and the other clonewheels on the market. Thats my one and only problem with the motif. That way I can drop the second clonewheel board from my rig and only use one board

Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Until then I'll just keep trying to figure out my Cubase 8, Motif XF7, PC3x, etc...Which combine to give me a palette of sound beyond anything I could have imagined just 5 years ago.

Honestly, I kind of hope they don't release something I really want just yet. It will probably be a year or two before I can justify buying another expensive keyboard. Not like that would stop me, though! laugh

I think we've heard that line here before! smile
You're arsenal is pretty nice. Next time around might require a sale!

I think Yamaha needs to offer more than organ modeling in a next gen Workstation. Current trends are calling for synthesis engines.

I've been giving stuff away the last year. The next thing that has to go is all these 3 way passive PA speaker cabinets that were part of my old keyboard rigs.

Most the old boards I have I want to keep with the exception of a Hammond XB-2 and anvil case and a Kawai MP-5 in a anvil style road case. I find uses for the modules, the D-50 is an old favorite and my old analog pieces I My daughter likes the MP-5 but she better find a place for it quick.

Until both kids get out of college I am going to be broke.

As a fellow Motif owner, I do not believe Yamaha will ever come up with better organ sounds. Korg blew the wind outta their sails in that regard. laugh

So, you may be schlepping that Nord Electro a while longer. But, the Electro complements the Yamaha P255. smile cool

I didn't listen to this whole thing, but it seems they have the technology...at least an upgrade from the Motif:

I own the thing, tyros5 is probably the best sounding keyboard out there in many many areas... Yet my kronos has way better B3, synths and piano sounds... Both complement eachother very very well...

And back on to the montage.. I am pretty sure we will see it somewhere between the first day of summer Namm and the last day of winter Namm

Problem is motif is missing any amp simulation and their distortion effect really sounds unnatural.

I'd like to shelve my vent as well.... get down to just one board!

Oh , then its by January NAMM 2016, as in this decade. Thats around the corner, I better sell my Kronos 88 since the Montage will obviously be better wink

Yamaha is keeping the holiday wraps tight on this. The Montage speculation was also captured in this old KC thread:

What's your point? This link is from June. There's nothing new here to add to the discussion.

The new Montage is the old Electone HS-8!
It does a killer Rocky IV sound track.

That is incorrect, the most recent update to the modern (XF) line added new amp models. For instance a very cool-sounding Jazz Chorus emulation, that sounds great on a Rhodes patch.

Funny that you should bring this up. I own a Motif XF6. For some reason, I never started playing with the amp simulations until a few weeks ago. They sound great, especially on the Rhodes sounds.

The old (Motif predecessor) S30/S80 had a much better tube overdrive sound than anything I was able to get out of the MOX. I haven't tried on the newer XF/MOXF, I wonder if anything like that is back?

Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our new video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out!
