All,

I have been given this rotary speaker & I wondered if anyone could tell me what make or model type it is? I'm reluctant to use the phrase 'Leslie' as it is very different to any Leslie I've ever seen! I'm guessing it could even be a 'home-brew' speaker?? It has a 9 pin connector & also a 1/4' jack in.

It came from an old Ballroom which used to host an organist. The organ was long gone but apparently the Organist used to use this speaker in conjunction with a Leslie 125.

I am unable to test it as I don't have an organ with a 9 pin connector, but looking at the twin horn drivers and twin speakers I'm guessing it was pretty loud!

I would be extremely grateful if anyone could shed any light on this recent acquisition!

Kind Regards

Julian

What an oddball! The drum looks like it is installed upside down.

I have seen this somewhere online before. Definitely it is DIY. I think the twin woofers were for more bass output. Not sure what the purpose is of the twin tweeters..maybe an ohms matching issue? That is NOT a Leslie horn or case.

This may be a dumb question - but why are there (what looks like) traditional round horn rotors coming out of the square flared wooden rotor piece? Is the square-crosssection piece the actual rotor, and the round part a reflector?

Or is it just to make that thing go to eleven?

The double carburator compression driver assembly makes my ears hurt just looking at the picture. And I mean that in a good way.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet that the square wood part is just decorative.

Thank you for all the kind suggestions! Having taken onboard the posts & plenty of 'Googling' I've come to the conclusion it is some kind of DIY cabinet with Sharma internals.

Some of the internal electrics look a bit 'DIY' & the rotating parts haven't rotated for some time & could use some oil.

The round plastic horns look a lot like baffles & I'm guessing it would be pretty loudů It's almost like two leslie 145's in one cabinet!!

I'll spend a bit of time & see if I can get it to work, but the condition of the electrics does concern me so I won't be taking any risks!!!

Kind Regards

Julian

Well if you end up letting out the magic smoke, you aren't out any money.

This baby needs twin Marshall 100W heads. I mean, double bottom drivers, double horns, you plug in a keyboard with double manuals.... you just need double the power.

And it goes to 22.

Those speakers look like nice "green back" celestions. Don't trash them...as a guitarist I know they are coveted and, depending on their age, can be with something.

I found this: Whizbang in Google images. Seems like the same general idea t least as far as the two woofers.

That page served me up a fake "you need to install a Flash upgrade" alert.

[edit: I'm not sure, but this might be related to something installed with an earlier download too. I would ignore this alert if it happens to you!]

Thanks for the info, the woofers are Celestion G12H & I now understand they are a desirable speaker! They will definitely go to good use!
