I'm loving this Mix Ox. Listening to the album again today. Here's a cool interview: Clonk

Thanks for the heads up. Just grabbed their EP.

Wow, I live here, and I've yet to hear about these guys. I need to get out more.

Also, Majuscule and RichieP_MechE, this remix of them was done by Ted Case of Purple Crayon. Have you checked them yet?

Checking them out now. I dig it :thu:

I discovered Max Ox when The Funky Knuckles posted this video on their facebook page yesterday - there's plenty more that are equally entertaining

Also flabbergasted. That guy's hilarious!

This part of the thread is just six degrees of separation from Moonchild. In the last One Minute Jazz lesson, he peppers this track in a lot. They're also an LA band recently graduated from USC, like Max Ox and Purple Crayon.

Did you know on these shows Freddie had a guy on organ and a guy on "piano" (likely Wurlitzer EP)? Hot stuff. This band really tore it up. :2thu:

Don't have links or images, but I'm currently checking out the new Reggie B record, Soulofunkaquarian. Very old school Prince vibe.

I also helped contribute funding to the new record by The Rebirth. That hit today as well.

At this moment, I'm hearing this album for the first time:

It's really quite beautiful. Potter's string writing is really nice, and the strings integrate into the jazz ensemble very nicely and non-forced.

Previous it was the new Daniel Lanois:

Really beautiful, lush-sounding stuff, all instrumental. I saw Lanios a few years ago when he toured with the Tortoise as his opening act and backing band, and that remains one of the best concerts I've ever seen.

Yesterday, it was all about the new King Crimson: Live at the Orpheum. Brilliant playing, but only 41 minutes long, which seems rather chintzy given that they were playing 2-3 hour shows on the tour. The closest they came to me was Seattle, and I had a gig and couldn't go, but friends who did said it was life-changing.

Hop, flop, squawk

It's a keeper

Was coming home in the car with my wife tonight from the theatre. The local college station, which usually plays the standard emo fare, played "21st Century Man."

Next up was "Close to the Edge." Had to sit in the driveway and wait for the pipe organ climax of "I Get Up."

speaking of Daniel Lanois, I found this on WFUV site. He was a studio guest. Here he is all over the knobs and sliders/programming .... I found it fun to watch. He is an amazing talent and really creative- IMO.
