As I read it, the OUT/THRU jack can essentially operate as both at the same time, yes?

This means I could plug a keyboard into the foot controller's IN jack, and have the note messages from that be combined with the control messages coming from the foot controller, all going out the OUT/THRU jack?

I'm interested in this too. I'm contemplating buying a Nektar Impact LX88+ controller, which has no expression pedal support.

Connecting the Nektar to the MIDI In port of the Behringer and using a MIDI-to-USB adapter to connect the Behringer to the computer seems to be a possible option. Has anyone tried something like this?

I wonder whether all MIDI data from the Nektar would pass through the Behringer (i.e., not just the notes, but the data sent by all the sliders and knobs on the Nektar). I also wonder whether this would take me to latency hell, with both the Behringer and the MIDI-to-USB adapter possibly adding a bit of latency.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to enlighten me!

I traded in my FCB1010 a while back (couldn't find a good place to put it in my rig), but my fuzzy recollection is that the Behringer merge did not work well; however, the $10-$20 (US) Uno firmware makes it work better. The Uno-equipped merge certainly worked fine for me.

BTW, I thought the FCB/Uno combination was great. It really was a "no place to put it that makes sense" problem.

Thank you very much for your reply, Tom! You've just saved me some money - I think this option is not worth the risk, considering the cost of the FCB1010 relative to the Lx88+.
