Me at a recent gig. Everything is coming out of a Quadrasynth+Piano. I just recorded from the mixer to my laptop's Microphone In. Nothing fancy.

Kind of a milestone for me....Boston Pops played one of my charts this past weekend.

WOW! , Gorgeous music linwood! , did you write the beginning bit , or put together the whole arrangement? I hear Steve Tylers great stuff in there.

Brett

No. I didn't write the solo piece at the start or any of his melody interpretation. That is all Christian and he's a wonderful musician/player. Very gifted. When I do these things for Josh's band most of the time it's gone down like this...they shoot me an mp3 of the band doing it and then I write the string and brass stuff and it's often "we need it tomorrow by 2pm". Usually when they pull into town for a concert they'll hire local players to do the gig that night and it will be like 4 strings,2 horn, 1 bone...and they have Christian in the band and also Dan on trumpet. I never write any rhythm parts. Those are already covered. I've asked if they want them, but I've always been told no. I had done an arrangement of Dream On for the smaller group like this for another tour of his. The big orchestra arrangement came when they played the Hollywood Bowl on the fourth of July with the LA Phil, they asked if I could do an arrangement for that. Again, I didn't do any rhythm parts or the into, just the orchestra stuff. They want the rhythm things open, I guess so they can just play and it can change if it wants to from night to night a little.

Organized a tribute to one of the all-time classic salsa records, Rubén Blades' & Willie Colón's Siembra. Lifted all the tunes, made all the charts.

The piano is NI New York Concert Grand. Held up under all those montunos with no choking (except for some player error). ;)

Great stuff David. Traditional salsa (or really any South/Central American music) is such a foreign and attractive sound to me. Very cool.

I recorded this little mashup of a couple Clean Bandit songs with my friend TAT recently. If you don't know Clean Bandit, you may very soon. They're ripping up the charts in the UK and starting to make serious noise around the rest of world. Smart dance pop with live strings. Check it out!

One of Toni's many tunes. Not final mix but the sketch is there. I first heard her singing it with just her acoustic (Rose) when I woke up one morning. It sounded perfect and complete like that. I just thought to decorate was was already there. She really is a great songwriter. Hope you like. :)

For all you prog/metal/Zappa fans, here's a couple of videos from a tour I did with Godsticks earlier this year. There's not a lot of keys action onscreen sadly, but at least they're at a sensible level in the mix...

All the keys sounds are coming from the Fantom X8, most of the EPs and the Hammond are based on patches from SRX-07 (the JP-8000 is MIDI-d to it for these songs). If you like them, I'll post more of the gig as it's released.

A few very quick recordings I managed to make fairly recently and 2 old band video shoots. I am no longer involved w/ either group in the vids. Both bands were fly by the seat of your pants type of projects that gigged fairly regularly.

These are not serious Soundcloud projects either, basically scratch pad things I laid down. They have all sorts of recording, mixing and playing ticks in them but they were fun! Volume on a few tracks may need to be raised, so! Recorded to a Tascam 2488 MKI. Mikes on the Leslie were a Rode NT1 (T. Rotor) and a Shure SM58 (B. Rotor) . . . Roland JV880 Upright Bass patch on tracks 2 and 3 being pushed by BIAB. Please apologies for the cheese horns on 'Night in Tunisia', I couldn't resist them . . .

Night in Tunisia (As a Mambo) ( Roland FP80 w/LH accompaniment)

Rough Fagan/Dan-like track for recording proj. that never took off - BIAB/CP50Rhodes/B3+122RV

'Cake Time'1st Pianoteq4 test>fighting latency but fun -w/BIAB/B3/CP50 st-very sloppy mix etc.

'Home is Where the Hatred Is'(Gil S. Heron) w/Duncan Elderhead Scott-B3/CP50,SP4 synth p.

'Bon Ton Rouletet'-live rec. orig. w/old band,FU LH piano under Organ solo CP300/XK3 w/145 preamp!

Fast-forward a bit on the Vids below to pass the intros! A few years old on these:

Kerry Kearney Band on LI Blues Warehouse. CP50/Korg CX3/Acme B1's with QSC.

2 rehearsals before this one, a little rough but not too bad considering. CP50/Korg CX3/ MS KP-500SN - LI Blues Warehouse again w Mark Klein as host.

I improvised this piece a couple of days ago, learned the whole thing from start to finish and replayed it a little better.

Recorded to thumb drive on a Casio PX350

sweet...

may I ask how many tracks you used - at least it sounds like more than one?

thanks

FWIW I uploaded a live version to Youtube last summer, forgot to post it here. It's not the greatest recording, just through the built-in speakers on the Privia picked up by a Smartphone camera.

In a lot of ways it's probably a better performance than the hifi recorded one. Sounds best in HD.

OK, why not share?

These recordings were quick and dirty jobs from a "mercenary band" I was part of briefly. We had a few hours, and that was that. Nothing too polished here :)

It's basically my Nord Piano 2 and Nord E4D straight into the board, no effects, one take. Done in a barn, straight out of the mixer.

Once you listen to the vocals, you'll understand why it fell apart :)

That being said, I thought these recordings were good examples of keyboards being featured in the mix. That doesn't happen often. Maybe I had the best sound -- who knows?

Nice work Eric. Cool singing and playing ( in a "funny" key and all). I enjoyed the performance even more so when I realized that I knew TAT and her singing years ago. She's probably one of the nicest and most determined people on the planet. Congrats to you both for this work.
