Apparently I missed the memo about Cyrus Chestnut.

So pretty much listening to everything I can find right now.

Listening to the next batch of tunes I have to have for Wednesday. This one is kind of snappy.

One of my favourite records of 2013, Royal Canoe's Today We're Believers. They're actually friends of my cousin's. I've met the keys player several times, nice guy and a good player. These guys write really crazy indie prog stuff.

The Healthy Dose, a kind of groovy/proggy trio from Portland. The drummer is an old friend and former bandmate of mine. The keyboardist/singer had a nice setup, a Rhodes 54 through a bunch of effects, and a Prophet 08.

Looks like they are making a name for themselves because they are also on Letterman in a couple weeks.

The Nth Power has a happening vibe:

Refreshing to see these kids playing instruments and singing with a little funk and soul thrown in the mix. I like it. cool

Just saw them on Colbert - I thought they did rather well. Guitar player could stand to move around a bit but otherwise good stuff.

Yeah, I thought they were great. I've seen them a few times live and the guitar player is definitely the least lively of the four, but he was more subdued than usual tonight...I'm guessing he was a bit nervous. He is also primarily a trumpet player, so I don't think he buys into the guitar hero thing :-)

Don't know if you saw the interview, but they all met up in your neck of the woods (New England Conservatory).
