I have just finished listening to Yuja Wuang's piano recital in Berlin (DG in Spotify) and continue with her and violinist Leonidas Kavakos playing Brahms

I find him a little annoying. I get why people are into it, but not really my thing.

Markyboard: that's some hot sh*t! Alan Holdsworth is my GOD! That tone makes me cry.

How did I not know about this lineup? I'm getting the album.

Bill's a very tasty cat. Great arrangements on Standards. Knows a ton of real obscure ones too. He really plays the piano well. I like the sound he gets.

His wife, Renee Rosnes, is great as well.

Dave Stewart does a pretty credible job also. Keeping my Yamaha CP 70 (for now, anyway). wink

A reason why I collect old keyboards is that I feel partly responsible for doing it, responsible for preserving history and being a custodian for these things
Plus, old gear has a story. I like that.

The great thing about music is that there's always something to learn. The frustrating thing about music is that there's always something to learn!

HUGE Flower Kings fan! Though I haven't checked out their first three albums: The Flower King through Retropolis. I started with Stardust We Are (which is fantastic), and have bought almost all of their albums since. Probably my favorites are Unfold the Future and Space Revolver. Solid Prog meets Fusion stuff. Too bad it sounds like they're pretty much dead; last interview I read with Stolt he was kind of fed up with chasing everyone else down, and starry eyed from his Jon Anderson album (which I didn't care for). Oh well.

Stolt is possibly my favorite guitar soloist... maybe next to Alan Holdsworth (who is extremely similar). Check out his solo on "Silent Inferno", possibly my favorite guitar solo ever. It's far from complicated, but his note choice, tone, and feel is absolutely in a class of it's own! I've transcribed it and tried to make it work for keyboard (and Seaboard), but I don't sound half as good as he does.
