i am getting on here less often but i have to pop in and share my excitement.

last night Brett and the band he joined has played their first show opening for 3 other metal band in the area. in case you didn't know Brett is now 18 and plays guitar, bass, sings and beats the drums. but in this band he is the vocalist.
one week before the show, conflicts of time took away the drummer. Brett rented a Yamaha DTX kit and tracked 5 songs on drums to use for the show. so technically my boy was 50% of the band.
the guitar player Colin suffered difficulties with his guitar (floyd ) equipped, and had to use a 7 string for the show.
the show went great, they pulled it off with slight nervousness but no crashes.
Alex the bass player walked to our place to catch a lift..several miles from his place.
great kids did a great job at rocking some serious metal for the peeps in Wolfville N.S.

dad is super proud of the work and desire they showed to keep going even when it looked like it was not going to happen.

way to go "Until I Sleep"

Did the show in spite of the obstacles. They're real "troupers", probably the most important and overlooked element in ANY area of entertainment.

You have every reason to be proud! I'm proud for ya!

they did good and we are proud. even "Mom" was there to be pummeled by loud music.
Brett did a great job on tracking the drums on my Micro br and doing each in one take.
and with the drums tracked previously and on PC there was no danger of "the drummer" stealing anyone's girlfriend..ha ha

all bands should do this! heh

And that, is the vehicle that will take a band all the way. Good stuff-now imagine what they can do if everything`s perfect!

Brett only joined the band a over a month ago and he was the new guy. i am pleased he worked it out with no drama. this will serve him well when he goes to NSCC to study recording arts this fall.

i just pitched an idea to my boys. a collaboration is in order.
Ben my drumming son , Brett my axe slinger/drummer/singer/bass player son , myself and my Bass player Chris are going to collaborate on something new from the ground up. Brett has told me he wants to sing, and Ben is willing to throw some lyric up seeing he is quite the poet and writer in school.

should be no shortage of stuff to draw from.

Boo-yah!

The family that plays together...

(Jacksons, Osmonds, Gallaghers, Finns, DeLeos, Nevilles, Van Halens...)

umm...

I guess there is no clear consensus.

Well, good luck anyway!

Whew! Sure glad Danny didn't bring up HANSON, The JONAS BROTHERS or THE COWSILLS. I'd have GAGGED!

But good luck with that. I couldn't get my daughters to take up the guitar for ANYthing!
