I picked up one of these cases for my blue PRS SE guitar, and I've been trying to figure out what the original artwork is. does anyone out there recognize this image? It's a detail from a larger work, I just don't know what it is. Feel free to embarrass me by telling me it's something obvious. "Oh, that's Byron, Goya, some such." I already checked out Durer.

Sorry about the sideways image, it was the best one I could find.

Damn, that looks familiar...but I can't place it. Dürer or Goya would have been my first choices...maybe a DaVinci. But anyone going neoclassical could have done it.

Who makes it? Perhaps someone has commented on it elsewhere online?

Artist-commissioned designs emblazoned on rugged, industrial-grade PVC and stretched over a multi-plywood shell. Heavy-grade hardware, plush interiors, and large internal storage compartment.

That "artist-commissioned" language to me means it was done for the case itself as a commercial design. They probably found a guy and asked him if he could do something "in the style of" ________. If he's got any rep, he may release the entire piece as a separate thing- a poster, a collection of his work, etc.

There were some designs that were obviously modern - a faded flag, a leather motorcycle jacket, for example - which I suspect are the artist-commissioned pieces, and then there was this-

That's Gustav Dore's image of Dante & Vergil, crossing the River Styx. Hm, maybe I need to search on images from The Inferno. . . .

Found it - the River Styx one led me to this -

Dante's Inferno, Canto 9. Sometimes the brain just needs a good shake.

Well, I said in my first post it looked "damn" familiar! And now I know why! Good sleuthing!
