basshappi's thread along with seeing a very cool white Ibanez Soundgear got me thinking about what my next bass would be. In fairness, my Fender Jazz covers most of my needs. I have come to realize that I like this bass so much, that I don't see much need for a different one.

On the other hand, I have always wanted a quality fretless, and I always wanted one of those single-cut models. And I always wanted something "different". So ... if Mayones offers this baby as a fretless model, I might start saving up for it:

Mayones Caledonius 6

Anyone else care to play along?

Gear fat right now. Way fat.

Maybe. Just MAYBE ... 5 string URB. Belgian. Strung EADGC. Fishman Full-Circle pre-installed. Eurosonic lights - if they come in a five string pack.

That will have to wait for the gig cash stash to grow a bit more.

Musicman Stingray 5. Cherry burst finish, rosewood fingerboard, black pearl pickguard.

I ordered it a few weeks ago. Build time is about three months.

With the addition of a Fender American std. p5 I'm good. If I do get in the mood maybe a EUB or a cheap SX 6 string jazz bass.

Lydian mode? The only mode I know has the words "pie ala" in front of it.

Still hoping to get a fretless 5 string of some sort before I die. Can't justify it now without selling something already in the stable, which I don't really want to do. If in a couple of years I haven't bought anything, I'll probably defret the Schecter T5, which was my original intention when I bought it.

This is on my bucket list too. If I'm feeling realistic, then my choices are a Spector Legend 5 Classic or an Ibanez GWB35 (Gary Willis model).

If I'm feeling crazy, then I'd like a Warwick Streamer 5 fretless, something like this:

Was actually shopping for the SR5 a few years ago, but I got derailed when my Pedulla became available. Back on track now.

I'm good. Thanks for asking, though. cool

Currently I'm more interested in unloading and loading-in, if you catch my drift. Speaking of which... If anyone's been dreaming about a 4-string fretted Carvin w/ Bartolini pickups and preamp, I just might know how to fulfill your dream... wink

Peace.

There was a time when I dreamed of having a custom-made Seismic, but the two fellahs slated to start that business never got it off the ground. Alas.

Peace.

Without question, those are the best smelling basses on the planet! Seriously, you'll open that case and think you're in Willie Wonka's factory. That paint ought to be available in a mens fragrance. You know you'd wear it!

I am also in the sell more than buy mode.

If I were to be buying a new bass it would probably be an Ibanez SR506.

Push the button Frank.

I'm set for a while but somewhere down the road I'd like to get a P Bass. No time frame set but I'm not in a hurry and when the right one comes along that will be the time. Also, and down the line, is a carved 1/2 size or 5/8 size URB. This last one will have to wait for a good while since I know what I'm looking for will probably not come at a low price.

I picked up an Epiphone Jack Casady signature bass for Xmas, and so am sated right now as far as new gear goes. Still, at some point I'd love to pick up a nice fretless.

Love my Casady, too. It sounds awesome with a set of tapewounds, by the way!

As for a fretless? I've been very happy with my Musicman Stingray fretless basses. First I had a 4 string, and then I traded up for a 5 string Stingray. If you want to go that route, lmk, and I can steer you towards a fantastic Musicman dealer in NJ!

As for my own next bass? That's probably going to have to wait. With the little one at home, I recently quit the band I'd been playing with for the past 3 years. New gear seems a little less important right now, even though there are a few things that have piqued my interest.

Possibly a Pawnshop Fender 32" scale reverse Jaguar, if the price comes way down and there are no armed guards at the local liquor store.

I swore I would never build another bass, but I confess, I am. It's still in parts. It consists of a Fender Sting style body but I am going to add another pickup.Allparts maple neck. After it gets painted a tan color I have a big Captain Morgan sticker to put on it. He'll be between the 2 pickups.Kinda strange.Something to do.Now I am waiting on a machinist friend who is writing the program to cut the pickup in.

No GAS for me at the moment.
But if I did have any, it would be an custom Alembic.
Can I borrow $8000 off of someone?

Nothing for me, thanks. I've got more basses than gigs at this point, so I'm in "sell" mode too.

Of course, if I did sell a few I could be tempted...

Maybe one of those old US made Peaveys. Like a Fury or a Patriot. Seriously, they are excellent basses and the prices are very low.

In a Gibson mood. Either an old Ripper or Grabber or a newer SG bass. But I don't think this will be any time soon.
