Very sad. The early yes albums were great - their cover of "Every Little Thing" gave him a showcase, and "Survival" was another strong song that I used to fiddle with.

Back in the late 80's/early 90's he released a solo album; may have been on the No Speak label. I remember the liner notes said "If you enjoyed listening to this album half as much as I enjoyed making it, then I enjoyed it twice as much as you." I stil paraphrase that a lot.

I found that first YES LP at a thrift shop, and was impressed with Banks' playing. Discovered his name among the personel on other older LPs.

When you have that creative a mind, you're NEVER too old to die young.
