...but then, you guys all know that! Sunday after church, I took a Jay Turser dobro out to GC to sell, because I needed to get some rent money in my account.

The day before, I been at a jam and heard Lonnie Ray, a local legend blues guy playing his L7 through A Fender Mustang III. When I got up to jam, he set it for a little grit and turned me loose on it.

I really liked it. It was LOUD, but controlable, and I didn't hear the usual digital shrillness that you seem to have to put up with in a lot of modeling amps.

Well, while I was out at GC, I saw a Mustang III on the shelf and started asking about it. It so happened that I had my Budda Superdrive 18 combo out in the car...

Long story short, I traded for the Mustang and got a chunk of $ on to walk out with as well. I feel pretty good about it. The Budda was a nice amp, but very touchy to dial in if you had to change levels.

for some reason i think the Mustang 3 sounds very different from most modellers. and i think the 3 sounds great too. not to mention it has a REAL Celestion, not the usual generic Celestion in name only.

I have a Vintage 30 in another amp, and I thought about seeing what it sounded like with it. But being a speaker with a pretty specific tone of it's own, I thought it might mess with the sound of the various patches, some of which actually aren't crap, and some of which pretty much are. I think that's pretty good for an amp like this; usually ALL of the sounds are overblown, over-effected and useless when you try to use them. So far, I like some of the Princeton & Deluxe Reverb models.

I love my little Mustang Floor which has all the same patches...I still haven't got off of the 65 Deluxe after what seems like a year...I just love the sound and use the Reverb, Delay, Tremolo and Compressor in FX mode as stomp boxes...Congrats and let us know how you like the amp after a week or so...I like the light weight concept for a practice amp while being powerful enough to handle small club venues...

Is the Mustang Floor an amp or just the preamp & effects?

The Floor is not an amp it's just a multi-effects pedal, taking the brains out of your Mustang III and putting them on the floor like a Line6 pedal with additional foot switching. You don't have the amp or the speaker but you have everything else plus volume/exp/wah pedal and dual connections for 1/4 and xlr outs, midi, etc...you can run it into any amp or direct to the PA. It uses the same Fender Fuse software as your amp if you want to tweek it more, save and share edits, patches, etc. If I ever need to buy another amp, it will be a III, so I'm really interested in your opinion on the way the amp sounds...

I picked up a 'Stang II (40 Watt, 12" Fender speaker) and for $200 it sounds great - it sounds like a Fender! Duh. I've just barely explored the Fuse software but very easy to use and tons of options. I would recommend these amps with no hesitation. The only weak spot (whaddaya 'spect for 2 bills right?) is the various input jacks are plastic, easy enough to upgrade to metal at some point. I love Fender.

+1 Love that Fender sound and that's why I haven't got around to all those options. I plugged the Floor into my ZTclub12 and it sounds like a Fender amp...I run it direct to the PA and to my Fishman Stick and it sounds like a Fender amp...I have yet to plug it in to my Hot Rod DeVille with the 4tens or my Fender bass amp with the 15, but it's going to happen some day...Thanks for the info on the II Lefty.

Yer more'n welcome LZ, I've cycled through 4 or 5 amps and I'm officially done, this is truly all I need. Again for 2 bills I can't imagine anything doing the same job any better, plus it looks cool and we all know that's important. If I were a real musician type (the guys who stay up past 10 and not in their dining room) I'd get a IV or V for playing live. Then again my 40 watts through a 12" speaker pumps out some decent SPL...

My approach is to get the tones I want for the least amount of $ I can and keep my liquidity. Picker, your trade makes sense to me.

It's God's gear, we just rent it for a while.

I haven't except for listening to a Line6 HD 500 on Youtube which runs about $500 bucks. There are a lot of Youtube demos on both pedals and the Line6 is a good one with many of the same outputs and pedal concepts...The Line 6 as additional features with dual amp settings, etc. The Floor is less than $300 and has all of the Fender clean sounds that I needed.

Good luck with the new amp picker, I have the Super Champ X2 and use the Fuze software to tweak it. Fuze is not as comprehensive as the Mustang series models but it is just enough.
