Anyone have a transcription to David Bowie's song Fashion? Or even a midi that I can then read the sheet music for? I found some very basic tab out there, but that's not nearly enough. I got about half the song figured out, but some parts have me stumped, like the edgy high voiced chord that they bang on right before the first verse starts. Any help would be great. Thanks!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLJewXljpwo <--- I don't know if this may be useful in figuring out some of Bowies' tricks and licks but it looks like it could help, there are a few vids of Fashion with some views of where the guitar players are working out on the fretboard that you might look at?

Welcome aboard jblair!

You could try out this site
Vanderbilly Video Learning possibly post to some of the player that cover Bowie, they might be able to assist in getting that sorted out.

Thanks for the feedback and the welcome! I'm checking out those sources and if I get it figured out, I'll post the findings.

Welcome to the board

It's Robert Fripp playing the guitar part... at his wildest, so it's probably "Frippertonics"-ed out.

I've seen clips from that sing from various tours and every guitarist plays it differently... though I'm sure Adrian Belew did something similar to Fripp. On the '84 tour Carlos Alomar did the lead and just played a funky chorused part for the solos (Earl Slick seemed to be playing power chords).

Anyway, I've played a couple of Bowie tribute nights and have done this song, stomping on a distortion pedal for the whacked out parts and and playing clean chorused funky stuff... bouncing between the two.

High pitched jarring chord?

Just a Gm at the 15th fret, with the A# added on top

they slide that voicing down 2 frets to a Fm at the 13th fret, and that's that riff

Verses = Gm - F

Choruses = Bflat - Aflat

Bridge = Dm - C - Dm - F - C - F

There's a few little riffs I picked up from the record, but other than that I'd just improvised screaming licks with fuzz+delay+chorus.

Thanks back at you Danny, I was hoping someone might find these licks interesting and from the other Bowie clips I heard on Fashion, I think throwing some effects on the licks demo'ed would help get some of his sounds crank'en on some of the tunes listed...I really liked Bowies original Space Oddity...preFloyd... cool

I remember a magazine in the 80s had a transcription and article. Lost the mag though and can't find it on eBay frown
