I was trying to install a usb soundcard on a new laptop with win 8.
I don't think i have the correct drivers.
my itunes come out through the sound card but the dvd player insists on using the lap top speakers.
can anyone help.

That's not the drivers, that's your audio settings in the media player program. For example, in Windows Media Player (or at least for W7), if you go to Organize-Options, then pick the Devices tab, select Speakers, and hit Properties, you'll have a pulldown list of the available audio outputs and you can choose your soundcard instead of the default motherboard audio outputs (where the laptop speakers live).
