Leaving Sunday, coming home Christmas day.

So I won't be here to wish all of you, of all ethnic and religious persuasions, a happy holiday season.

Be careful out there if you are traveling. I will be driving 5-1/2 hours up the wilds of the Arizona/Nevada Desert, to the Rio.

Yes Happy Holidays to all members, I will be celebrating Xmas with my in-laws and wife here at home. I hope everyone who travels for the holidays safe to and from. Oh Yea here to hoping everyone gets more musical over that time.

For the record, it was strictly platonic, in case Susy or Deanna read this. Since neither of them play guitar, it's sort of unlikely.......

We had to cancel the Las Vegas trip, my sister in laws dog got sick. And they don't want to leave the dog sitter with the problem.

Truthfully I ain't upset about it.

I would have had to drive 5-1/2 hours up the desert to Vegas with my mother in law and sister in law in the car packed to the roof with all the stuff they need to bring. It was looking like a nightmare to me with all the stuff they wanted to do, with me (of course) chauffeuring them around in the Las Vegas traffic.

Yep..have a great one

It was an OK day for us here in the Sonoran Desert. We did a nice beef roast in the showtime cooker, and some sweet baked potatoes, and brought them to another family house. We had some homemade Mexican Screwdrivers (named and made by me) by adding frozen mango chunks to the OJ and then a generous helping of 3 Olives Cake flavored vodka, blend until smooth. Schweeeeet.......

Best laid plans...

Originally, I cooked this huge feast for Thanksgiving, so that when Christmas rolled around, all I'd have to do is thaw & reheat my own awesome leftovers.

Alas, I could not thaw my food because the fridge was full...of $4.99 Rib roast and $2.99 pot roast to be cooked!

I did the pot roast as part of a concoction we call "Stoup"- meat & veggies in a broth too thick for soup, too thin for stew.

The rib roast- well, 6 of the 19lbs- was to be done in the oven. Unfortunately, we seemed to have had a butter spill from the holiday bread puddings we baked to give away, so as the oven was warming up, the spilled butter actually ignited, giving us a smoke cloud that threatened to set off the alarms again for the third Christmas in a row (long story), so we had to open the door to let the smoke- and the puppy who had never seen snow- out. Turning off the oven let things cool enough to let the fire go out, but that still left me with a roast to cook.

Fortunately, we have a tabletop roaster that seems to have handled it juuuuust fine. Soon, the spinach will be ready, and dinner will be in my crosshairs.
