That's too bad. Time was when Hamer meant an exceptionally excellent guitar, and they played a big role in the resurgence of quality amongst American made guitars and the interest in vintage-inspired designs, materials, and attention to detail. Fender and Gibson had HUGELY dropped the ball in the late '60s through the '70s and pretty much sucked; Hamer was one of the names that filled the void and brought about interest in vintage-influenced models like the Sunburst and Standard.
