Ok.. I have a guitar that I inherited from my brother, who passed away a few years ago. I do not have any information on the guitar at all. It looks like a Les Paul, but there is absolutely no indication on it that it is. There are two stickers on the back of the neck that say "WO 20579" and the sticker under that states "Made in" and the rest is scratched off. I have pics of it. If anyone can tell me what kind of guitar this is, I would greatly appreciate it. Im trying to find out the manufacturer info, year, and worth if it's possible.

Pictures would definitely help.

It opened but showed nothing...but now it works just fine! Hard to tell from the pix- is there any writing at all on the front of the headstock? Just in case nobody here can figure it out- 'cause I'm no guru myself- you might check here: http://www.mediawebsource.com/guitar/serial.htm

No, absolutely nothing. And I already checked that site on my numerous "googles" about this guitar. The only thing thats on it is the stickers with, what I assume, is a serial number sticker "WO 20579" and another little sticker under that with "Made in" but the other part of it is scratched off..*sigh* I have a friend who works at "Guitar Center" and he's going to check it out for me too..It's just frustrating lol because I do not even remember if my brother even mentioned what kind of guitar it was..

I found some pics online though of a very similar guitar..it was a Lotus Les Paul knock off..only difference between mine and the Lotus photo was the little design on the headstock. Mine has a diamond shaped black abalone design, while the Lotus had a white circular design.

A bolt-on neck is generally indicative of 70's era Japanese LP copies. Lack of a headstock logo sort of says "No-Name, inexpensive, Asian, copy".

From what I can see in the pictures, it's not a Gibson. It's a copy, probably made by a company offshore someplace. Do you know when and/or where it was acquired?

Same here, Geoff. The headstock is wrong. Gotta be a copy, but no writing anywhere throws me, too. Still a good looking axe. Got me fuzzlebucked! Whitefang

I think the Geoff hit it square on , brands like greco, aria, and a few others used that plant , the rectangular neck plate says to me mid 70s to mid 80s , and the non Gibson head stock tells me after 1981 . Take the truss cover off there maybe some info there , as in square nut or ferrelled 6 sided nut . Next off is the electronics cover plate, there maybe some info on the pots . If that fails time to pull the pick ups and start on pat numbers or stickers with odd names like , dry , hot , and more weird names . And lastly pull the neck and look in the pocket and the back of the neck . Also look on the back of the pick guard sometimes little stickers with numbers there . Or just play it , these can be great guitars once set up right, I own two grecos now and have had a few other Japanese copies and they were all quality guitars and basses . I actually have started collecting thier flying vs .
