...the double-neck guitar Warren Cuccurullo is playing in this video?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaXZ8GrOH5E&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I've seen the neck (or facsimiles thereof) on sale online- aluminum and without headstock or tuners- and the body is small like a Steinberger. But I can't find out anything beyond that.

Looks like he's playing a giant PADLOCK, doesn't it?

And that "drum kit" looks like something out of "The Jetson's".

Now I'M curious, too.

That guitar fascinated me the instant I saw it back in the 1980s- I just never thought to look it up on the internet until a couple of days ago.

I mean, besides it's iconic looks- perfect for time, place and performer- it has to be one of the lightest and most ergonomic doubleneck electrics ever made.

As far as I can find so far, the guitar was invented by Warren Cuccurullo and named "Missing Link" haven't found any images yet.

Yes its was a custom piece fabricated by a machinist named Arndt Anderson. He also did some other magnesium aluminum guitars include prototypes for a guitar company called Mag Guitars. I think they are out of business.

Trevor Rabin played one at one time.

Thanks!

Did Arndt do the whole guitar or just the neck?

I'm not sure. If I had to bet I would assume he just did the neck and body. The electronics on Warren's guitar was state of the art controls at the time. It was wild looking stuff.

Bizarrely, I was able to find it- or a copy- with a Google Image search for " Arndt Anderson double-neck guitar warren cuccurullo" which is supposed to go to an eBay sale...but when I try to follow the link, the "there" ain't there.

6 pictures can be seen in the search- 2 of the guitar, 4 of the neck alone.

Interesting info. Missing Persons is a band that I don't think got as much airplay as some other 80's pop groups, so I hadn't really heard much from them. Cool stuff. And that look is so 1985.

Last I heard, Cuccrullo was playing for Duran Duran. That was quite a few years ago so I don't know if he still is.

I like the Hendrix-inspired rhythm guitar parts in that song "Give".

WC has gone solo, last I heard- DD is basically back to its original lineup, sans one Taylor.
