Thanks Greg. I saw an XF between 3.20 and 4.07. Is that what you are referring to?

Yeah will someone please explain what's going on in this video - or at least make a good guess?

I think I just wasted 6 minutes of my morning...

Well, the cat hasn't yet been let out of the bag, but it's cool to know that Yamaha has a cat in the bag. Let the aimless speculation begin! thu

Bit of an odd name choice as Yamaha has already used MX for its mixers.

http://usa.yamaha.com/products/live_sound/mixers/analog-mixers/mx12_4/?mode=model

Plus it sounds very close to MOX, unless it's a new model of the MOX.

Busch.

In a nutshell: the next synth from Yamaha, to be announced in the month of November, is the <insert your own guess here, could be MX, could be slurred "Motif X", could be any of a number of things>.

At the end of the day, don't we have better things to do? Like, I dunno, actually play music? confused

I am shocked that Yamaha is planning to introduce a new synth.

This is a world changer

Aww Sven got his feelings hurt. That was a good one arX. The first good laugh I had on this forum since the whole game changer thread.

Did the guy only mention the new Yamaha, I didn't see any new boards in the video, just three schmucks with Madonna headsets playing at the Versailles garden. Why would Yamaha make them pull the video over that?

I wish the big dude with the carpaccio would have dropped the dime on the Korg SV-2. That is what the world needs.

Source I know told me there IS a new Yamaha board coming out in Jan, and it is the next Motif/workstation type keyboard. Don't know more. But it's happening.

Another reason to keep living.

Seriously, I upgraded from a Motif ES to an XF in July and I am just blown away by this board.

Really? I still love my Motif ES very much, especially since I use the PLG cards a lot, but I am curious to hear about what feature improvements regarding the XF series you really like, besides the Flash memory and improved internal samples, which are not important enough for me to upgrade for. This new Yamaha board may be enough to finally sway me.

The XF is like the ES on steroids. Some of the coolest things:
- flash memory
- Chick Corea piano- this is killer- incredibly detailed
- four simultaneous arps
- Can record directly from a performance (on the ES, you have to do a lot of button pushing to copy the performance to a pattern, etc) Instant gratification
- The AF buttons are great for performance- you can trigger an arp, or a leslie on/off, or whatever by triggering these
- tons of sounds,
etc

I do like reading these speculation threads more than writing them... but if it is a going to be a new flagship model release for Yamaha, here is what i see them lacking, compared to what they have covered.

Covered:

Workstation - Motif series - and all the lesser models under this tree
Digital pianos - P/CP/
Arrangers - Tyros/PSR

Utterly Lacking

Emulators - B3/EPs/tonewheel etc.
True synth - analog or digital, real time type stuff

Now to come out with new series workstation would be cool, but i'd like them to get onboard with what the other companies are doing and put out some one trick pony's, emulators or synths... affordable stuff. I certainly dont want to see another $5000 dang keyboard like the CP-1 that is grossly overpriced (roland v-piano too)

Please Santa, give Yamaha an OS friendliness update.

Oh, and make it smaller and lighter than a Nimitz class aircraft carrier.

has anybody did a real comparison between the Motif XS/XF Hammond simulation and one of the newer clonewheels?

I mean- all of the pieces/parts are there- eight sliders, good harmonic percussion, leslie simulation, etc?

How inferior can this be to a Nord or new Hammond?
