How many times have any of you heard a quip or reply or comeback and thought, "Gee, why didn't I think of that?"

One came my way the other day. I was returning the hedge clippers I borrowed from a guy two doors down whose son was trying to get him to determine the problem with his car. His son's car was making this high pitched combination whining/buzzing sound, eventually traced to his serpentine belt and AC compressor. While running this car so the three of us could give a listen under the hood, the guy next door to me, an 85 year old gent named Bruno, walked up and watched the whole scene. When the kid shut the car off, Bruno piped up and said:

"This must be one of those new Chevy "Cicadas".

The kid's Dad, who was sipping from his cup of coffee at the time, started choking helplessly as the other two of us were cracking up so hard to be able to help him!

I've been on all sides of that situation...

Being able to "Win one for the Quipper" is always best, but even the best of us occasionally fall flat...or get quipped a new one.

In 1979 I bought a new Mazda RX7 in Sarasota Florida. My wife and I went to a pig roast in Arcadia Florida, a real nice rodeo town 40 east of Sarasota and a guys asks me if that was the new Mazdarotti. Can't forget it!
