I am trying to hook up a pair of digidesign 192s to a new 12 core mac pro.
Unfortunately the old G5 power mac they were running through used PCI slots, as opposed to the new PCIx slots. How can I get round this?

cheers in advance
Jamie

Not sure if there is a way of getting around it. Not knowing much about PT interfaces, I'd venture a guess that your best chance is if you can use one of the PCIe HD system cards with your 192s. Lot of folks selling those on E-bay, though they're damned expensive...

Apparently the last pin on those wasn't used anyway so you can just insert them in the PCIx slot with the last pin over-over hanging, and they work fine.Search the Gearslutz forum or the DUC for more info on this before hand, because I can't remember exactly where I read it,and there is conflicting info on this.
PCIx and PCIe(PCI express)are not the same.PCI,and PCIx are backwards compatable.

My bad - I interpolated the two. PCIe = the evolved AGP slot, where PCIx = the high-bandwidth PCI slot.
