Both Sir Paul and (Sir)Stevie were in fine singing voice. I have heard both sound a bit past it over the last couple of years. Not last night though.

I accidently stumbled across the show on TV last night, and really enjoyed it. Definitely broke up the usual (i.e., SOS) viewing routine for the evening. I especially enjoyed the performance by Sir Tom Jones.

Actually I heard some bad spots for Paul. He still goes for the high notes, no fear(which I think is so cool)

Tom Jones however sounded excellent

I watched it and could feel Elton's pain. But I enjoyed watching him anyway along with Stevie, Sir(s) Paul & Tom. Could have done without Will.I.am!

Maybe Jessie J is the new Fergie.

I really enjoyed the tune that Jools Holland did with Ruby Turner. It was a refreshingly subtle and soulful island in a sea of mostly over-done, over-sung showiness. (Stevie Wonder was of course another highlight).

I liked Will.I.am in X Men:Wolverine. (it was an okay movie, not great) I was surprised, he played the role the way it should have been, which was cool. I'm not a fan of his "music" though.

The great thing about music is that there's always something to learn. The frustrating thing about music is that there's always something to learn!

I liked Lenny Henry's line (after the Queen came into the Royal Box for the second half):

"I want everyone in the audience to turn to the Queen and say with one voice:

... YOU JUST MISSED TOM JONES!"

Cheers, Mike.

Hmm. Well, as Gary's comment suggested, I wasn't too enamoured and posted on FB about all this. I didn't know about Elton's pneumonia but frankly that notwithstanding, both his and Paul's voices are shot and they either need to totally reassess how they perform their songs or stop doing so altogether. I love McCartney's work more than I can say but I thought the performance was cringeworthy.

It is sad... You would think that their professional pride would kick in... but Elton is playing Vegas, after all...

I caught some of McCartney's performance; the band was in top shape, but I was not too impressed with his vocals. Apparently he had a sore throat, or something along those lines. Still though, for a guy about to turn 70, he's got his rock on!

Also from Lenny Henry: ‘Hands up if there are any black people here. Right that’s three of us, let’s have a fight.’

Not everyone in London was jubilee-besotted.
