Hi guys,

as a lot of you are into DAWs and soft synths, I figured you might have run into the same problem:

I dowloaded the latest updates for Kontakt 4 (now 4.2.4.5316) and some instruments via the NI service center.
While standalone units like Massive and Absynth run fine, each time I select an updated instrument in Kontakt, like the Scarbee Rhodes, I get this error message:

"instrument could not be loaded. Maybe it has been written by a newer version of Kontakt."

Apart from being the first error message I ever had containing a "maybe", I don't really understand what it means. Does it mean that the instruments are coded for a newer version of Kontakt (5?) ?

Did anyone have the same problem and found a solution? I'd be glad to hear from you, thanks in advance!

Mo

Interesting. I just downloaded a boatload of updates from the NI Service Center yesterday, but I didn't install them yet. I noticed several of the instrument updates said "for Kontakt 5 only". Did you update instruments also?

Yes. I updated the Scarbee Rhodes, Bass, the Vintage Organs and the NY Grand. They all give me this error message when I try to load them in Kontakt. I also updated the Kontakt instrument package, it seems to be working fine. I didn't see "for Kontakt 5 only" anywhere, but I guess that's the problem then. Is there a way to downgrade?

I don't know. I'm not sure if system restore would work since the install rewrote instruments- not programs. Short of that, you may have to reinstall the instruments. Uggh. Probably worth a tech support call or posting on NI's forum.

For PC,- most new updates are for Kontakt 5 and Win7 only !!!
If you don´t need these, don´t use ´em.

There´s no improvement in Kontakt 4 and Komplete 7 as also no in Win XP.

Even you´re on Win 7 but use Kontakt 4 and/or Komplete 7 Service Center notifies about your plugins being up to date and the offered updates are for the higher versions.

I hope that rules for Mac too.

Using the very latest versions of devices needs Win7 and Kontakt 5 or Komplete 8.

Being a Kontakt 4 and/or Komplete 7 user,- feel free to install Kontakt 5 player to make usage from latest updates.
It can be installed separately and in harmony w/ Komplete 7 or Kontakt 4,- but Win 7 32/64 Bit necessary then.

No experience w/ Mac OS Lion here,- all my Macs are still Tiger.
laugh

hope that helps

A.C.
