you might have noticed my new signature. i'm doing a half ironman triathlon* through team in training to help raise money in the fight against blood and lymphatic cancers.

our own Russkull noticed it and donated, so i've written a haiku of thanks that i'd like to share with the community:

he brings the low end
like i bring a swim, bike, and
run to cure cancer

please join me in thanking Russkull for his generous donation!

*a half ironman race is 1.2 miles swimming, 56 miles biking, and 13.1 miles running, for a race total of 70.3 miles. i expect it will take me 6 to 7 hours to complete the course.

Go, Rob!

It's a little cold for swimming in Michigan now, isn't it?
Or is that part in a pool?

Listen to my triathlon song!

In the mid-eighties I was a serious competitive triathlete. I even had some top ten finishes including a third overall. If you have any training questions I'd be happy to try and answer them. Of course for the swimming part Jeremy is the man.

fortunately this isn't my first tri. i've completed and olympic and several sprints. and despite my love for running, relative to the field swimming is my best event. the team in training staff have a very good idea of what it will take for people to complete this race, so i'm in good hands.
