this is a quad opamp big muff pi i built up. there were some ic bmp's built with discrete opamps in place of the classic bmp's transistors. i was like, rather than using 4 noisy 741's, i'd use an lm324 quad opamp. i ended up using a tl084 instead, a low noise high gain jfet version. worked out great...very ballsy, different sounding from a classic muff, but imho very useable.

Cool! cool

I recall my IC BMP having several "sweet-spots" in its Tone control sweep, one before and two after "Noon", where it sounded perfect; I usually ran the Sustain either full-up or somewhere in the last 97% of its rotation, and the Volume just a bit above that with the pedal switched off. It was a mean, mean turbo fuzztortion with balls and then some!

I preferred running it on two 9v batteries; if I recall correctly, I think I connected 'em in parallel, but I remember trying 'em in series at least once (maybe that wasn't such a good idea, and maybe I was lucky). Either way, with two 9v's, it was like a "MORE!"-switch! Very ballsy!

yah, that's why things like the klon centaur run at a higher voltage (kinda..) wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more headroom~

i have two klons i've built now, one stock 18v version, and one that runs 9v...they sound virtually the same...other than the volume. the 18v version literally KILLS the 9v version!

this pedal in the video is running on an almost dead 9volt battery...probably 1/2 or less of what it's supposed to have. to ME, fuzzes sound sweeter with less power...less headroom, but more sag.

it's all good...all useful and groovy! wink

Depending on the given fuzz, I largely agree! I like to be able to roll back the guitar's volume-knob and put a little "English" on my "touch" for unusual tones, and also roll it back up and get fat, dilated, sag-influenced tones with the attack sputtering and swelling at times. rawk cool
