There is no "vs". The Vent destroys the Dynacord. It would be like Ivory vs the Korg M1 piano sound.

As an owner of a Ventilator and a Dynacord CLS-222, I agree with the above posts. Rather profound statements, as the Dynacord was the gold standard of Leslie sims for many years. Today however, while they both fall in the general category of "Leslie simulators," this is where any meaningful comparison ends.

P.S. Anyone wanna buy a Dynacord?

It's interesting, didn't Danny Federici use a Dynacord? And it became part of his signature sound with the E Street Band.

So if the new guy uses a Vent or real Leslie, it will be perceived as inferior. smile

An instance of a bad imitation becoming desirable like Hammonds and Rhodes.

Regards,
Joe

Danny F switched to the RT20 on his last tour.

I loved how Danny played and would try to get closer to him to see how he did things. Here is a shot of the article that explains his gear and two shots of the rig. He used Alesis stuff which I was surprised at. I could not understand why he stopped using a Leslie? Here are a few shots. I am not sure who did the work on the B-3? Check out the Celesta from Jenco. I miss his playing:

Funny that he uses the two Alesis boards as nothing but controllers... but one of the things he controls is a QSR!

I'm more surprised by the Behringer.

Behringers are fine as long as you're carrying a backup. ;-)

I wonder if Danny's tech put a lighter spring in the RT20 where you push the pedal to change speed? If you are switching by hand, as it looks like danny was doing based on where the pedal was positioed, its pretty hard to push down by hand. At least relative to a half moon switch.

Me too. I mean for the money they took in and it was a lot, the gear does not match up. He had such a good ear and to not use a Leslie and that shitty Behringer, RT20 stuff does not make sense? I know Charlie Giordano uses a Motif and a Nord on the side.

There are many musicians who are non-technical and only care that the gear works and serves the purpose. cool

Nice reading, Outkaster! Do you have scans of the first part of the article as well?

I saw this at the Guitar Center in Buffalo, NY. I had a gig that day and was checking out the keyboard department there. They took a helicopter with his doctor to Indianapolis from Sloan Kettering in the city. Itís funny the first two pictures are of him when he came to play his last show before he died. He did half a set. He was real sick and worried about his left hand because the cancer had spread to his brain and he was weak. He came through with flying colors though. It is too bad this article had to come out after he died. I have close ties to NJ so this was a tough day.
